crazy-tiger
I hate this church... I have to walk past it everytime I go shopping... The irony is, Jesus will... if you don't praise him.
Deva
Yeah, he won't vote against you, but if you don't believe in him, he will send you to hell. What a stupid, crappy, sign crazy-tiger. What the hell are they trying to say?
GraphicsGuy
Idiots. It should read, "Jesus won't vote against you...IF" Why is it people ignore the "IFs"? I know it has something to do with keeping your head up your ass, but I fail to see the drawback in asking the questions...

Wow, each step the god/government line blurs I guess. God watches you every second to keep you safe, so do we!! Of course this is no different then the day's of the King, what ever the King declared So did 'God' declare. To question the Crown is to question God.. off with your heads!!! The more things change the more they stay the same. Only a few more years and we'll have those posters too CT, no doubt in my mind.

angel.white
Should tape a bible verse under it Something like: Matthew 15:22-26 22A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession." 23Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us." 24He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." 25The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said. 26He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs." ---------- Or that one we found earlier today: Matthew 18:15-17 15"If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. 16But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'[c] 17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector. ---------- Oh, this is a beauty, it's particularly applicable as its talking about family, and even specifies "brother" Deuteronomy 13:6-10 6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods that neither you nor your fathers have known, 7 gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), 8 do not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity. Do not spare him or shield him. 9 You must certainly put him to death. Your hand must be the first in putting him to death, and then the hands of all the people. 10 Stone him to death, because he tried to turn you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. ---------- Jude 5 5Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord[a] delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. ---------- Heres another one dealing with family, this time all you have to do is be stubborn, rebellious, or disobedient! Deuteronomy 21:18-21 18 If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. 20 They shall say to the elders, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard." 21 Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid. ---------- But, I guess god won't vote against you if you're on big brother. Afterall nonexistent entities can't phone their votes in! mwc
I'm pretty sure this isn't what they're saying but at first glance I took it to mean that jesus endorses Big Brother (ie. jesus won't vote against Big Brother...the 1984 type). This is really somehow related to the television show, right? I'm guessing once we're in his "house" he won't vote us out? I don't watch the program but from what I know of it isn't that the gist? Of course this metaphor means there are others that might still vote against me and I can be sent away since I don't believe anyone ever willingly just leaves. mwc
Robbobrob
There are currently a couple of contestants on the show "Big Brother 8" who are always talking about their belief in Jesus, how the winner of the game is pre-ordained by God, that what happens in the game is God's will. One even had a "vision" that she was supposed to win one of the games they play. She didn't. Guess it was not God's will afterall. I think the sign is directed crypticly to that. A local church to me has the sign: "After you Stop & Shop, Stop & Pray." A Stop & Shop supermarket was recently built across the street from the sign (which is on a main street, the actual church is located up a side street off the main road). GraphicsGuy
I find it very disgusting how so many Christians (just like those Christians in the Big Brother 8 house) actually think god cares about their petty little issues. Winning a fucking reality game show, having their favorite team win the pennant or superbowl or world series or whatever. Helping them get a promotion, etc. Meanwhile, thousands upons thousands even millions in other countries around the world are dying day after day, their prayers and supplications frozen on their dead lips. Week after week Christians get their "fill-up", their "feel-good" and think this is god's will for us to prosper and god's will for any not lucky enough to be born in a free nation to perish in abject poverty. Could not agree more. Maybe that is why God can't save the starving people of the world, end hunger and bring peace on earth....he is too busy counting how many Packer fans vs. how many Cowboy fans prayed for their team to win, so he knew how to predestine the game. Reason why no one wins the lottery is because everyone is so greedy they cancel each other out. It really does explain everything....LOL

Common guys.. we all know God is a New England Patriots Fan, the proof is in the dynasty. I thought skips Power of Prayer post yesterday proved that Christians only rely upon prayer when it's not proven, once they are sued for it.. of course they will deny all responsibility. I had no idea what the "Big Brother" meant that the sign was referring to. Having never seen the show, it made no sense whatsoever. I thought it was Orwell's 1984. I hate it when I see a sign and can't make out what the hell it means, even an xian sign.

HuaiDan
That sign gives me the creeps. I thought you had photoshopped it. It seems exactly like a poster one might see in 1984. Doublespeak, double meaning. Big Brother: Jesus won't vote against you, but we will." Or something equally confusing; "Big Brother Jesus won't vote against you So what's the use?" If they were going for the 1984 effect, that eye is perfect.

Robbobrob
It was a blending of the 1984 novel and the current reality TV show, while making sure not to infringe on anyone's copyrights. Kind of makes it a muddled attempt to be topical yet timeless. On a happy Christian note, the two bible thumpers escaped eviction once again this week...all thanks to their heathen (yet apparently God controlled) housemates. That and the fact that neither of them are considered actaul threats to winning the game.
Grandpa Harley
I've mentioned before, but I saw the first Big Brother in the original Dutch. I had a surfeit of a naked, slightly rotund, blonde, Dutchman having a crap while expounding on his geology degree. Enough to last me several lifetimes, in fact. But after that, you have to confess BB (UK or US) is but a dim reflection of the true horrors.
