Admin webmdave Posted October 6, 2007 Admin Posted October 6, 2007 A video by John Anderson http://exchristian.net/exchristian/2007/10...a-in-bible.html
sonyaj68 Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I watched this video. I was wondering why he didn’t site these scriptures: Matt 25:34-46 & Nark 10:13-16 & Luke 27:2-3
godlessgrrl Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 He didn't cite those verses because none of them mention paedophilia. Matthew 25:34-46 states that anyone who provides comfort or relief from suffering to another provides it, by proxy, to Jesus. It specifically mentions relieving thirst and hunger, providing clothing, caring for the sick, and visiting prisoners. Any mention of paedophilia is absent, though a non-literalist interpretation could allow the implication that any act of kindness counts. (I suppose refraining from raping and molesting little children could be considered an act of kindness) Mark 10:13-16 gets a bit closer to the matter, in speaking about Jesus' love and care for little children. Paedophilia is still not mentioned. A non-literalist interpretation might allow for prohibition of child sexual abuse based on Jesus' loving example. (It may be worth noting, however, that many paedophiles consider their actions to be expressions of love.) Luke 27:2-3 does not exist. There are only 24 chapters to Luke. Thus chapter 27 fails to mention paedophilia by default. 1 Timothy 1:10 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 may refer obliquely to prohibitions against pederasty and/or paedophilia, but these verses are usually translated to imply generic "sexual perversion" or male homosexuality, and hijacked by homophobic believers to justify their bigotry.
sonyaj68 Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Sorry about that, I meant Luke 17:2 Not necessary for you to respond, as this again does not specifically address pedophilia and also “little ones†is more than likely talking about people new in the faith and not necessarily children. Thank you for your direct answer to my question. Note to self: Proofreading is a beautiful thing.
white_raven23 Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 His other videos are really good too. The one about the bible (and jesus) condoning slavery is a favorite.
