Guest CerebralHypertrophy
If you aren't familiar with the prophecy of St. Malachy, check this out... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophecy_of_the_Popes For more information, type in keywords into major search engines or youtube. Regardless of what your spiritual beliefs are in Christianity, this "prophecy" is important. Whether this guy actually had a vision from some higher power/entity is not entirely important. The Catholic Church has adhered to this guys predictions if not spiritually based. If it is spiritually based, than we have an extra wrench to deal with. We are living in the time of the 111th pope. According to St. Malachy's prediction, there will be only one more Pope and then the 'END' will arrive. Is the Catholic Church artificially creating an 'end' to something? The world? The Catholic Church as we know it? Ushering in a New World Order? I personally doubt the validity of the story of Jesus as it is commonly told. I don't claim to know everything and know that I could be wrong about many things. This kind of thing is as close to proof of some higher power or plan that I have seen... Let me know what you think. RedPillAddict
I would take this just as seriously as the predictions of Nostradamus, Revelations, and Sylvia Browne. That means its 100% B.S (I think this is in the wrong section, BTW)

mwc
Let's take a look at the wiki: Petrus Romanus Ominously, the longest and final motto reads, "In persecutione extrema S.R.E. sedebit Petrus Romanus, qui pascet oves in multis tribulationibus: quibus transactis civitas septicollis diruetur, et Iudex tremêndus iudicabit populum suum. Finis." In translation this means, "During the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church, the seat will be occupied by Peter of Rome, who will feed his sheep in many tribulations; and when these things are finished, the seven-hilled city will be destroyed, and the formidable Judge will judge his people. The End." There is disagreement as to whether further unmentioned Popes occur between Petrus Romanus and De Gloria Olivae or whether there will be further Popes after Petrus Romanus. So it looks like there could be possibly MORE popes before and/or after this LAST pope and the description of this last pope could be hand waived away by simply applying it to anyone as a metaphorical descriptor after the shit hits the fan (ie. Pope Todd the 12th does all this and then they say "Todd must have been Petrus Romanus! <Gasp> All hail Petrus!" Prophecy fulfilled. Yay). mwc

Just once before I die, I'd like to see a christian make a claim that was NOT absurdly ambiguous, that didn't depend on "god's mysterious ways," and that was NOT open to any interpretation except the plain english (or any other language) it's written in. But I guess if they did, and they were inevitably proved wrong AGAIN, there really would be no leg left on which to stand for them. To christians/god: speak clearly or shut up. Please. Thank you. Dave
Regardless of what your spiritual beliefs are in Christianity, this "prophecy" is important. No so called "prophecy" is important. It is just something the guy made up. Is the Catholic Church artificially creating an 'end' to something? The world?... The RC chruch does not run the world. They can create nothing but their own hysteria. This kind of thing is as close to proof of some higher power or plan that I have seen... That conclusion can only be reached in you believe in such things. I do not. Let me know what you think. I think that people that actually believe in prophecies, new world orders, an higher power/plans; are seriously confused people that are believe they have no control over their own lives. HuaiDan
A dead English commoner who was married to a prince gets more attention than the pope does these days.
