sojourner
I want to thank you all very much for having me and enduring me as well at times when it was far from easy for some of you. I have learned alot in my time here. Ive grown alot and am still working thru some challanges you all have sparked. I will give you all a break from my posting presence and just read here now and again. My intent is never to hurt folks, that being said I am really sad that I have. The list would get long if I thanked each one of you that have really impacted my life in the last couple of weeks but I hope you know who you are. Again thanks Antlerman I have to say to you imparticular that I am greatly indebted to you for expanding my horizons and causing me to think without so many bounderies! You Rock! sojourner
SWIM
I will give you all a break from my posting presence and just read here now and again. My intent is never to hurt folks, that being said I am really sad that I have. I don't think you have *hurt* anyone here at all, maybe ruffled a few feathers, but nobody is asking you to leave... BTW there IS a feature in the profile to IGNORE certain users, if anyone "just don't wanna hear you" they can allways set you to ignore. You have inspired some interesting threads, and offered a different perspective on things. I don't agree with most of em, but hey, that don't mean they aren't interesting. I think you are taking the whole thing too seriously. Just kick back and post on lighter topics, enjoy your stay here more then trying to "get something deep out of it", the learning will happen on its own. sojourner
Thanks Michael Im sure learning alot about communication and how difficult it is when you are standing in such different places, but also how rewarding it is too! Its well worth the effort Not only do I not like to anger or hurt folks, but its hard for me to handle some of the things said to me as well I went to a meeting last night and I was thinking how it would have sounded to you all and I got a little tickled cause I could just see Mythra roll his eyes in mind. see you all are sort of a part of me now lol sojourner
R. S. Martin
see you all are sort of a part of me now lol sojourner Hey, maybe you belong here. If you stay here and keep your religion I think I can guarantee that your faith will deepen, esp. if you keep making contraversial statements like you just did about nonChristian being a religion. You might want to take Michael's advice and stick to lighter topics until you get a feel for the place. But that's entirely up to you. For all I know, you've been lurking and reading for a year and know all the crevices and crannies. I, too, don't think anyone was seriously hurt. Some of us are on the look-out for Christians to rip apart for therapeutic reasons. I know that sounds a bit gory but maybe you get the picture. What we need is a punching bag. And we get some pretty stupid xians coming in here saying some pretty stupid stuff. You've proved yourself to be several cuts above most. You actually learned something. Not only that, you confessed to learning it and accepted it publicly. That's a level of maturity and intelligence we seldom see in the Christians who come on here. It's as though they think they will lose their faith simply by admitting that we are right in one little detail. I don't understand a faith as weak as all that. I would say it's not worth having, much less bragging about. They should at the very least not venture into exChristian Lion's Dens and expect educated deconverted ministers, apologists, and theologians to take their crappy testimonies seriously. But Christians who stay to defend their positions, or to discuss their points and opposing positions, and to learn and grow--now that's a breath of fresh air. Sorry if we were a bit rough on you, sojourner. Maybe now that we know that you're not going to roast us for lunch (read: send us to hell) we won't be so quick to have you for supper. Only speaking for myself here.

sojourner
Ruby You know I can relate some and that is why I Never go to fundamentalist forums. I would have them for lunch because it angers me so much. I probably would enjoy a little too much using them for punching bags and then feel bad for it. I stumbled on this place by accident but I was ready for it somehow and feel Im growing. If I werent growing or was causing too much of a problem I wouldnt stay at all. Ive been online for years but never posted on a non universalist forum before, oh except for one christian forum years ago on msn but I was a calvinist at the time. anyways, I have found in my life some of my closest friends are ones that we have had to work thru things at times so sorry I got sensitive, it hasnt happened hardly at all here, but I am female, and you know how we females can be lol It can sneak up on me sojourner

Evolution_beyond
It was very, very pleasant meeting you. you are without doubt the nicest christian I've encountered that's come onto this site. Makes such a nice change from the post-and-run fundamentalists, who stay a short while and then flounce off again in a huff. Your beliefs remind me of how I used to believe. I hope you continue to grow in wisdom - never stop questioning and seeking I like reading what you have to say anyway.
Antlerman
It was after only 3 posts in conversation with you that I was convinced of your sincerity, humility, and respect for others in your heart. I said this to you at that early point: Oh goodness no, I'm not going to let you have it! On the contrary, I'm going to welcome you as someone who has my respect. ( and if anyone wants to give you a hard time, tell 'em I welcome you ) You apparently forgot to tell them? But I did try to prepare you for this site in my next post after that: You're welcome. I'm hoping to have you around. There something refreshing about having someone with differing views, yet a genuine human respect to talk with. Don't be too alarmed by seeing some hostility around here, especially in the "Lions Den" forum. This is a place of people shed off that skin of evil they've been freed from, and that's part of the process. Take a break whenever you need to process and reflect, but don’t ever let anyone drive you off. I feel you add value here, if not for some, certainly for me. my favorite genre is surrealism but I love all kinds of art Very cool. This says a lot about you and your ability to think outside convention. If you said your favorite artist was Thomas Kinkade, I would have shaken my head and tried to find reason to have hope! . I really like abstract expressionism. Jackson Pollock is my favorite artist. His work really speaks to me. I respond to it. I have one print hanging in my music room. It’s like I see the creative movement behind the universe in it. It’s hard to explain in one brief post. P.S. I’ve just added you to my friend’s list. Now they have to leave you alone! (actually, you can take care of yourself just fine . I’m just teasing the other members here ) P.P.S. click here http://www.ex-christian.net/index.php?show...c=10097&hl= (when you link over to the music from that thread, the songs have a scroll bar on the right to read the notes added. The first one has a lot of text that you might miss)

Antlerman
ps here is my favorite artists site, I would love to paint like this http://www.rassouli.com/ sojourner I have to make a comment to this, not about the artist's works per se', but more about the mystical content. It was just leaping into my mind as I was going through the galleries, how that ideas about the transcendent, their mythological imagery they take are dissemenated to culture through art. I've said this before, but just wanted to mention it here upon seeing these, good as they are. Ideas about our existence are born out of culutre and spread through culture through music, literature, mythology, and art. Our ideas of God come to us through the same means.
