The Difference Between My Belief And Christianity...

Recommended Posts

Most people here know I am still a theist. This post is geared more toward the Christians on this site, lurking or otherwise, than anyone else...

I still believe in the spiritual realm and a God or Goddess of some sort. I still pray occasionally and I still think that some things happen for a reason, not just by chance. I have my reasons for my belief.

Now, Christian... Here is are the big difference between you and me...

1) I don't believe I hold absolute truth and am willing to adapt when my beliefs no longer work for me or are proven wrong.

2) My beliefs are mine. They are *very* personal. I don't feel the need to convert anyone to my belief system nor do I believe that beliefs different from mine are wrong. That includes atheism. My beliefs work for me, and that's all that matters...

I really don't care what you believe. Just don't use *your* beliefs to infringe on mine.

Christianity has this insatiable hunger to be right. It is egotistical. And its motto is "Convert 'em or kill 'em."

I believe we should live and let live.

THAT is the big difference between Christianity and my and most other belief systems.

I honestly feel the same way KelliKat and reading your post on the new thread in here I was nodding yep, that is how i feel.

I see God as being so enormous a being for the human to grasp that its like we sit around this amazing huge diamond that is bigger than the universe and in one lifetime there is not even a way to see every facet. So I focus on what I can see and am blessed by it. But I have no need or desire to pull everyone to my little spot where I am standing and proclaim to them the spot Im focused on is THE whole and THE absolute truth and everyone come stand here and ooooh and awwww over what I see. Instead I love to listen to others share what they see or dont see as well. I loved reading all of your responses on the new thread in the lionsden, wow, amazing. Even the bible says to not just look on our own things but the things of others. Ive grown so much here lately listening and admiring what others see. This site has changed me and enriched me so much and I know some tire of me being here but its a wonderful place and I love it here.

I have similar views as you. Although I very rarely pray.. I guess I tend to lean towards deism..

But I agree with the fact that christians believe that they hold the truth.. I dont feel that i have some sort of monopoly on G-d.. Who knows if I am right..

You are wrong. It's not like convert them or kill them, it's more like convert them or if you can't - love them. they will see the change in your heart and there's a possibility they will accept Christ.

I think well all need your brand of "love" like we need an atom bomb dropped on our head.

Morontheism as usual. Make a claim, be proven wrong, repeat same claim with different wording and say "See? You dumb unbelievers misunderstood me". :lmao:

Oh well, not entirely correct here. There's one tiny (but irrelevant) difference in that what you state above is basically "keep trying no matter how unwelcome you know you are". Eventually this will end up at "kill them all too" of course, when you find that you don't have the one single thing you'd need to (re-)convert us... evidenct.

@Kelli: Nothing to add to that... you almost literally describe my stance :)
