Goodbye Jesus

Insurance Companies

Funny, I got a script for chantex to stop smoking and guess what? The asshole insurance companies won't pay for it. Apparently it is more expensive to pay 150.00 for a stop smoking aid then the cost of a lung transplant or cancer treatment. Bless their great wisdom!

They won't pay for viagra either, they could care less about my boner, but that kinda makes sense, I am not required to screw for health reasons, but chantex? Come on! They should pay for it, and throw in some free viagra so you can fuckin celebrate not getting lung cancer, mouth cancer or COPD...

Wife pointed out that they don't pay for birth control either. OK that one makes sense too. It really must be cheaper to birth a child, deal with it's health problems, and have yet another person on a healthcare policy then it is to pay for just a batch of pills...

Got anymore *gems* from the insurance companies that irk you?

Will your insurance premium go down if you quit smoking? That might have something to do with it. I just quit smoking too, good luck!

Nope.

I am on group because I am self employeed so they won't/can't ask health questions.

What irritates me with Insurance companies is that you pay premium for years. You get into an accident. They pay for the repair. Your premium goes up to make sure they get their money back in 3 years, on top of the regular premium and all that you paid before. So in essence they get 2-3 times more money than the cost. Does the word extortion come to mind?

Yeah, and on BCBS small group, under the law they *must* take you. But... 1400.00+ dollars per month... Lets make sure that we can keep as many of these evil self-employeds off the plan.

Started out at 400+ dollars a month just a few short years ago, they LOVE giving themselves raises, they do it like clockwork too, and as much as they possibly can.

dont even get me started on those fucking douchebags that call themselves insurance companies.

If you want to get me really angry just start up a conversation about insurance!!!! My insurance dropped me when I was diagnosed with hepatitis-c and ever since then I hate those motherfuckers.

Car insurance is just as bad. I have an appointment for surgery today and my insurance company wont pay for the whole surgery. Its only 45 grand..so I have to come up with about 20 grand for the surgery..

p.s. anyone want to buy a genuine Jesus toe? I am selling to for..oh....20 grand.

We have BCBS from my husband's job and pay 140.00 bucks a week! By the time they take that and cut taxes he has to work 50+ hours to bring home 500.00.Thats if there is overtime. On a regular 40 hour week he brings home barely 300.00! I quit taking antidepressants because you have to go to a psychiatrist before they will pay for them. Ain't that depressing.

They do not pay for eye or dental either. I wanted to try and get All Kids insurance for my youngest but I heard he would have to be uninsured for 6 months to qualify.

A couple of years ago, my wife had a couple of out-patient surgeries to help with the pain she gets from her chronic pain disorder (Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome). The first procedure was performed in July and the second in September.

It took until December for the insurance company to clear everything up and foot the bills because they were trying to claim her disorder was a pre-existing condition, even though she clearly fell well outside the bounds for that as outlined in the plan.

And from the horror stories I've heard, we got off easy, because most times it seems to take insurance companies years to clear bloody pre-existing conditions.

I got all this hassle because I couldn't stand seeing my wife writhing in pain with levels she described as around 9.5 out of 10 on the pain scale.

At the risk of offending someone, I'll say that I don't believe insurance companies should pay for fertility treatments.

If you want to have a kid that badly, there's a really cool thang called Adoption. I don't want to pay for the fertility treatments of those who would add to this world's population burden. Via my insurance premiums, however, I am forced to do so.

Now let's see who I've offended.

I was adopted. So why should I be offended? Especially when fertillity treatments sometimes have an expolsion effect that turns a woman's uterus into a frigging clown car.

I'm not amazed by septuplets, I'm actually sickened. Bearing litters works for mice, cats, and dogs. It doesn't make sense for humans to do this. Especially when they wind up with their own freaking tv show!

What White Raven said coupled with the fact that infertility treatments are both horrendously expensive (in addition to being not-covered), rather unpleasant, and have very high failure rates (when they aren't turning uteri into frigging clown cars.)

Insurance companies are one of the things that almost lead me back to theism, because I'd like to think there's a special level in Hell for insurance companies.

I HATE insurance companies. I hate paying hard-earned cash to a company that really has no interest in my health at all, and which will do everything they possibly can to ensure that they don't pay out on me, ever. I hate that it's even possible for a company to make money off of the state of my health. I hate even more that the alternative is worse: total bankruptcy in the event of a catastrophic illness or accident. If the alternative wasn't worse, I wouldn't have insurance.

Insurance companies are part of a larger problem though, which is that the health don't-care system is slowly imploding. Spouse and I pay $185 a month for the two of us, on a catastrophic-only plan with a $6000 deductible. If one of us is hit by a car, they might pay out. Maybe. If they feel like it. The rest of our expenses are supposed to come from a HSA that we haven't actually opened yet because I'm unemployed and we need all the income we can hang onto at the moment.

Ironically, I got laid off in November from my state-funded job - mere days away from qualifying for the best possible health care plan I've ever seen in my life. It would've been $70 a month for near-comprehensive care, for both me and my spouse, on the state employees' plan. I wonder if that was part of the reason why they laid me off...

I don't think fertility treatments should be covered either. Birth control, yes. Viagra, sure. Nicotine patches, totally! All kinds of preventive care, because prevention cuts costs in the long run - not just for insurance companies, either, but for businesses. Healthy people are just more productive.

But shit, y'know - fertility treatments? No. I'm not a fan. If we didn't have six billion people on the planet I'd have less of a problem with it. I'd like to see adoption made more accessible, though.

And I'd like to see the CEO of every health insurance company chained to a gurney in Hell, with every disease known to humanity inflicted on them every 24 hours (kind of like Prometheus' liver), and actuaries standing by lecturing them on why their illnesses are considered a pre-existing condition and thus they can't receive any treatment for them... :pureevil:

I like to think when the government cracked down on the mafia during the early 20th century, all the smart dons founded insurance companies.

Then when they took down Al Capone, all those who'd entertained illusions of continuing on as they had joined them.

Our dd is severely disabled and cannot sit, stand, or walk. When she outgrew her car seat we needed to get a special one made for larger children up to 100 lbs. We asked our insurance company - Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield - to help pay for it. We were willing to pay for some of it, but couldn't afford the entire $700 at the time. Our request was denied and their "reasoning" was that this special car seat wasn't medically necessary, therefore, they wouldn't cover any of the cost. I guess it isn't medically necessary that our daughter be safe in the car when she's going to her doctor's appointments, to get lab work, to the hospital, or just to go visit someone! That happened about 10 years ago and I still get livid thinking about it!!! Thankfully, we were put in touch with a wonderful foundation that gives grants to families of special needs children who cannot afford to buy special equipment, etc. that insurance companies refuse to pay for. They gave us the full $700!

If I didn't agree with you that it would be a bummer for you to get lung cancer and die, I'd say to not get the prescription, keep smoking, and then bill the insurance company when the medical expenses roll in.

Ever watched the movie Sicko? It'll make you more upset by far than just a prescription of Chantex or Viagra..
