The ending joke was pretty obvious once he starts the "chopping down" part. Who knows if Dane really believes it or not, he's just playing the crowd. I thought this comment on the vid was funnier than the vid: "Atheists, please let it go, seriously guys, very few people want you to hear you proclaim your beliefs that religion is a sham, seriously guys, just let it go." I barely laughed watching his first special, but the one with Dave Attell and Greg Giraldo, he killed. This most recent one, eh. I think that guy from Mad TV does him better than he does himself. Reminds me of the Seinfeld where Jerry accuses the other comic of riding his coat tails in the line-up. He told that stupid joke about shitting on the coats at a party. Disgusting. Oh, yeah and then on that HBO special he took a dump in a bucket on the tour bus and showed it to his buddy while he was eating breakfast. What kind of human does shit like that? The thing about Dane Cook is he can be funny--in extremely small doses. In Waiting..., he's one of the cooks, has a total of probably 5 lines throughout the entire movie, and it works really well. "Welcome to Thunder Dome, bitch!" is a perennial favorite around my house. Similarly, for all I thought the movie was retarded, his audition appearance as Waffleman in Mystery Men was hilarious, and every now and then I or one of my roommates will spontaneously start singing his theme song. On Comedy Central, I really like Patton Oswalt, Jim Gaffigan, Maria Bamford, Lewis Black, Mitch Hedberg, to name a few. My all-time favorite hasn't appeared on Comedy Central; Eddie Izzard, who has some really funny stuff about religion and the bible. And yeah Dane Cook is rarely funny,usually just gross. The worst part is he's huge with college age guys who think if Dane Cook says it, it becomes "ok" (like the closet shit bit).
