mentalhh
I've just come back from a Union fair- basically tons of societies/volunteer organisations advertising for members in the new semester. Because I was too busy last semester (I had 70 out of the 120 credits last semester, only 50 this time) I decided to sign up or more information on alot of things as well as volunteer work, an interesting group called the Kites society (Kind of like windsurfing only on the ground). I am also considering doing martial arts (although they didn't have a stall, I did find introductory sessions are starting soon). I also signed on the mailing list for ARTS (Atheist and Rational Thinking Society). However I am wondering, would I technically be able to become a full member? I'm not really an atheist (yet... I possibly could become one, It hasn't been a year since I deconverted after all- though it WILL be next month), I really would call myself agnostic. I would more put my bets there ISN'T a God, though I am not 100% sure... Thoughts?
cm_christ
well if you are more interested in learning about free thought view points, being free thinking people is a start, just be up front about it and let them know you are interested in learning their viewpoints. i dont think you will get any hostile backlash, us freethinkers arent really violent by nature. par4dcourse
Welcome to the boards. Nobody here claims all the answers; we just question, listen, and think. No one demands that you be or do anything specific, just think. I doubt they do either. There's a ton of information to peruse, both here and on other websites. I recommend the freedom from religion foundation and www.atheism.about.com. Best of luck in all your endeavors. -Larry
SWIM
One of the main points of being an athiest is admitting that you don't have all the answers. It is an act of humility IMHO. There are theories out there, and speculation, ideas.. etc. A few points to take note of is theory is a much stronger thing than "speculation" as a theroy is grounded in facts and is a logical next step in learning. An atheist, IMHO, is just someone looking at life the universe and everything, from a sound, logical persective, and OPEN to changes, not only on science, but what science points to. There is no theology at all to atheism, it is merely the rendering that; "prove it, or make it logicaly possible, so I can consider it."

My guess is that such a society would be happy to have an agnostic as a member, and would likely also welcome theists who were re-considering their beliefs. bellsybop
"Technically" I don't meet the criteria to be on this board either, since I am not Atheist.. but I tend to fit in quite well here. So, I'd think perhaps you'd fit in just fine. Good luck making your decision.

Amethyst
This is a site for ex-Christians. It is not Atheists only. We have many Agnostics and Pagans here, and even a few Buddhists. So don't feel that just because you're not Atheist, you're not welcome.
