♦ nivek ♦
Anti-gunners disdain self-defense by John Stossel "Murder is against the law everywhere. No one intent on murder will be stopped by the prospect of committing a lesser crime such as illegal possession of a firearm. The intellectuals and politicians who make pious declarations about controlling guns should explain how their gunless utopia is to be realized. While they search for their magic bullet, defenseless people are dying. That's because laws that make it difficult or impossible to carry a concealed handgun deter one group of people: law-abiding citizens who might have used a gun to stop crime. Gun laws are laws against self-defense." (03/03/08) http://tinyurl.com/2qjlwj
gradstu09
? Not sure of the relevance. Some of the nuttiest gun nuts I've known were likewise the nuttiest christians I've known. In fact I don't think I know any atheist gun nuts.
Grandpa Harley
Grad, meet Burnedout... he make even the most Survivalist Christian Right Tribulation, End Times, and Commies are on the way stylee Christians seem like the Dalai Lama ... and that's being needlessly charitable

Grandpa Harley
and as you know, I regard the right to bear arms is earned, and I've heard lots of wild shit from you that means I'd not trust you with a cap gun let alone something that moves hot lead with efficiency... nothing personal, I just think you're dangerously unstable, and possibly a sociopath

In fact I don't think I know any atheist gun nuts. It is wise to keep some things to yourself... Unless of course you are me, and I am the consummate "gun nut" firearms owner and preparedness sort. Stick around, read archived Boards, and "learn sumthin' about guns" and their use. I have no sympathy for your paranoid delusions. I got off the bus a long time ago bubba. In return, who the hell are that this mean_old_fatman should give a copper coated zinc cent of your opinion of firearms and their use? You may start out what could be an interesting conversation with a good dose of un-empowered victimhood, carry on, you are doing well so far. Well gradstu09, Feel free not to enter into Rants and Replies threads where shit like the above quote is used. You kick the hive, be prepared to be stung. You are welcome to say fairly well what you believe needs to be told. The Big However is simple, enjoin in a conversation, do so at risk of replies that might strongly disagree with yours. To simply *take you ball and go home* is the most prudent if you have nothing to add to the thoughts and ideals being discussed. kFL

Super Moderator florduh Posted March 6, 2008 Super Moderator Share Posted March 6, 2008 There's no doubt a thread on this already, but why are so many people who follow and emulate Jesus so anxious to blow someone's head off? I know how the Bible can be used to justify being armed for self-defense, but it seems from my observation that a lot of peaceful and loving Christians would rather pull out the Glock from under their Bible than turn the other cheek. Non religious people I know are neither extreme, most owning guns but not bragging about it. A lot of true "gun nuts" seem to be "Jesus nuts" as well. - Chris

Pow! I really don't see the compensation thing with guns. Why do people feel the need to throw that out there anyway? Guns are tools and little more, they are what you make of them. Some people decide to make them into symbols and work a stereotype around them. For that matter what is a gun-nut anyhoo? I suppose a nut of any sort isn't a good thing, but what do you consider crossing into nutty, rather than exercising a legitimate right. I like being familiar with a gun and carrying one, it comes in handy. Out on a piece of property I frequent in West Texas there's a nasty pack of wild dogs running around and you really would not want to get stuck outdoors after dark with nothing but your hands. Its good to know how to use the tools of our day whether its computers, matches or guns.
Super Moderator florduh Posted March 6, 2008 Super Moderator Share Posted March 6, 2008 How are we defining "gun nut?" I like the camo undies idea To me a nut is one who doesn't have time to post here because he's cleaning or shooting. Arming oneself is wise, looking for trouble isn't. I own guns and hope I never have to shoot someone; the nut can't wait to "off" somebody. - Chris
