(I'm just going to copy and paste some from my myspace blog)

This is a big day for me. I'm stoked to have my first song up. This is the first "completed" song. I put that in quotes because it has not been professional mixed, and hardly mixed at all by my unskilled self. My computer bleeds out it's ass when I ask it to simultaneously play all of my tracks in cubase. So, until I get a new computer (this summer), the mix will remain as it is. I will also redo all of the vocals, as I'm still working at strengthening my voice, singing for a recording, and being good at the engineering aspect of it. The orcchestral elements will also be improved when I get new software.

As for the song meaning, I think it's somewhat clear if you just listen to the lyrics, but I will elaborate. This song is about losing my religion, getting over the threats of hell, and the empty promises of a god that speaks to people.

It's basically speaking to my younger self when I was going through the process of seriously doubting christianity and trying to figure out how to come to a conclusion.

Nice groove! The song ambience reminds me very much of the sound from about 1985-86, (Tears for Fears, Crowded House, et al.)

And nicely recorded, too. Can you give us a quick rundown on your recording gear & setup?

Thanks, it's interesting that you said that about the 80's, because I had someone else tell me the same thing. I use Cubase LE, as it came with my Presonus Firebox sound interface. I'm using a P4 1.8 Ghz home built computer right now. I used Battery 3 for the drums, and then Vanguard for all of the synth parts, except the orchestral elements, which was Edirol. I use a Novation Remote 61 key midi keyboard. I think I used a Shure SM57 (I have the 58 as well, and can't remember which one is hooked up) for the vocals. This summer, I will build a new computer with a Quad processor and get Garritan Personal Orchestra so I have some real orchestra sounds. And then upgrade Cubase when I can.

Thanks for listening.
