Guest AntiChrist
Christianity is spreading alarmingly in China and HK Kids in HK Christian schools, which represent a huge portion of local schools in HK, are forced to make prayers, attend religious lessons in which religious teachers blatantly distort and (legally) defame evolution theory. (As far as I know, evolution is not included in the science curriculum for junior and middle high schools in HK, as I have never learned evolution in high class science class before!!!) In the western world, we are glad that we have a wide variety of scholars and freethinkers including Richard Dawkins debunking Christianity. In Hong Kong, there is VIRTUALLY NO academic who is openly critical of Christianity !!!! (I could only name one Philosopohy scholar Dr. Lee in HK who speaks in a high-profile manner against Christianity). Go to the religious section of any local bookstore in HK, you will find most of the books there are pro-Christianity books, and there are only few Chinese books (and most of them are written by Dr. Lee) that criticize Christianity. People in HK are simply bind to the toxic effects of Christianity……..and I predict that….if the current situation go un-interfered, China (including HK) will become another Christian nation. Religion Destructor
I travelled China and Japan staying at Buddhist temples and learning what rubbish Buddhism is there. I saw many christians in China they have to follow the government christianity and cant follow the Vatican or the pope. Some christians are secret christians and do their christian stuff in hidden houses so the governemnt doesn't find out or they will go to jail to be tortured. There are just as many Muslims in China too. In Korea there are far more Christians than Buddhists and they are having a fight right now about the treatment of Buddhists by the Christian government. In my experience I saw that Chinese christians still practice their folk religion and Buddhist beliefs together with christian stuff. It is all mixed in together. My Chinese friends are all Buddhists and they hate the christians. There are at least ten Chinese christian churches near my home and five Chinese christian bookshops too they must make lots of money. So sad. HuaiDan
I'm here in Hangzhou, just outside of Shanghai, fighting the good fight. So far, I've only met a few christians, but the ones I've met are unshakable. The mainland Chinese are an incredibly naive lot, with seemingly very little strength or conviction. I'm not trying to insult the Chinese, but it's the result of the one-child policy and government mind control. Ripe for the picking, ready to grab onto any idea that preaches "a way". I'm afraid there's a possibility you might be right on this one.
Vigile
What the hell is wrong with people? You would think the heathen lifestyle would be so much more damn attractive. People must be self loathing sick and twisted the way they adopt in droves idiologies that force them to feel guilty, deny their natural desire and that generally turn them into sniveling boors. If your parents indoctrinate you from youth that's one thing, but to adopt this shit when you are not culturally conditioned as a teen or adult? They must be fucking nuts. TheHammer
And China is the up and coming world power... This is going to get ugly, isn't it. I say we start excavating and underground (literally) when China gets a cross in the flag. Byeeee!
mwc
When central authority starts to fail (think the Roman Imperial cult) then a central religion can be used to take its place. The US has no Imperial cult but we use xianity as our substitute (like it or not). People fear and demonize the failure of the common cult. As China moves away from the current regime a strong central "cult" will be needed to keep them united. Unless they return to a strong monarchy then a monotheistic religion is about the only "solution." mwc
