Guest kam000
Hi guys and gals. I've been doing a little reading on religion/"Christianity" before Christ. A google search brought me to this guys site: http://www.tbm.org/were_people_saved_before_christ.htm He kind of ticks me off but amuses me at the same time. He explains in regards to Buddhists, "I do not believe today's Buddhists are saved; only that if Buddha were alive today, he would be a Christian." I LOL'd. I'm not Buddhist or anything but find it a little amusing as I said.
Deva
That's interesting since Buddha was supposed to not have answered any questions regarding whether or not there was a creator. Seems to rule out Christianity. Buddha came out of a background of Hinduism, prior to Christianity and would not have known what a Christian was talking about. My guess is he would certainly not accept the many beliefs of Christianity of today.
Robbobrob
i would think that Buddha would find the concept of being saved completely against his teachings.....being saved perpetuates the soul into an afterlife....just another level of existence. Buddha was all about breaking the cycle of existence and getting beyond even the Heavens. He was most likely to see gods, angels, and devils as stuck i nthe same cycle as the rest of us. Neon Genesis
I wish somebody would make a site to counter this one that would argue why Jesus would be an atheist if he was alive today. I'd love to see the xtians' reaction to that suggestion.
Karhoof
In conclusion, people prior to the birth of Christ were saved through Him by His wisdom. They were not saved in the sense of being born again and filled with the Spirit, but they were saved with the meaning of being forgiven by God. They did not enter heaven upon their death, because the way for heaven was not made available until Christ ascension, however they were in paradise (see Luke 16:19-31). During Christ ascension they were then carried into heaven with Him. That is where they are today—in heaven with Christ. Wow! 4,000 years is a long time to be standing around, waiting for the gates to open!
