First I want to thank everyone for their advice! You guys always do come through when I need help making decisions.

One of the replies make me really think about whether what I was asking him to do was fair. We talked things out and we both agreed that what his pastor doesn't know wont hurt anyone for the time being. His church is 40 miles out of town and unless a family member rats him out (which he says is unlikely) his pastor is not likely to find out. Especially since I told him I'm not going to that church with him.

I asked him how his family felt about me and he said his family didn't have any problem with me. Then I asked him if he felt guilty for dating an atheist and he said he didn't feel guilty before and he doesn't feel guilty now. After our conversation, I felt a lot better and we agreed to meet up the next day. He asked me out, I said yes, we're back together now.

and i'm happy!

Then that's really all that matters, isn't it? I'm happy for you!

Oh, it sounds like this turned out much better than I was expecting.

I'm happy for both of you.

Well, as long as you're happy...

But why don't you buy yourself a pair of steel toe boots so just in case this guy lets you down again you'll be all ready to kick him in the balls?

A friend of mine assured me that if he breaks my heart over religion, she will break his knees with a baseball bat! I told her I would help...lol
