Alcohol

So I'm going through the alcohol phase, which I should've gone through in my 20's, but I was religious then. I drink at home to be on the safe side, and I rarely, if ever, drink to the point of getting actually drunk. I do not wish to experience having a hangover.

I attempted making a martini tonight, but being a nub at this sort of thing, I used vodka and dirty martini mix. I will have to get some gin sometime and try a pure martini.

I just drink one night a week, at home. Later I will be imbibing some corn whiskey.

I really didn't drink much until my thirties. Even as a teenager, I eschewed alcohol (I was a pot-snob).

Don't drink to the point of blacking out. One disadvantage of getting a late start is that you don't know your limits, whereas everyone else learns how much they can reasonably take by the time they leave college. I ended up doing a lot of stupid shit my first year of drinkin' as a result of booze, shit that I still wince at with regret three years later. In fact, there are two people that I know hate my guts with a passion over something I did three years ago (hey don't freak out, it was nothing jailable), and only shame keeps me from countering their hate with more hate.

Man...this is like my favorite subject lately! :D

I'm out drinking about 3 or 4 nights a week sometimes now. I always have a DD or cab it. Always with people. Never drinking "just" to drink. Don't get drunk EVERY time, but close.

However, I'm still very much a drink n00b. TONS out there I haven't tried.

My favorites...beer (obviously): Kokanee, Coors, Moosehead, and Rickard's white are my general takes.

Rum and coke! Specifically...dark rum...mmmmm. Love that. My friend and I did 2 ounce shots of rum last night. He had some cheap and nasty stuff that just burned on the way down.

My friend, Kat, ALWAYS buys rounds of shots. Jagerbombs/guardians...shots of whatever with OJ.

I tried gin and tonic on Friday...ugh...nasty shit.

Coke, vodka, and lime is good.

"Slimes" are great...vodka and lime.

Five-alive "screwdrivers"...or just screwdrivers.

It's all so good.

Amethyst,

One of my favorite things is Mike's Hard Lemonade. It tastes pretty much like lemonade, and the alcohol taste isn't overpowering, but that's also why you have to be careful with them. I've polished a bottle off in about five minutes time and you do that with two

you'll start feeling it pretty quick. Something else I like is Sake which I nicknamed "the Ninja" of liquor because even though it's technically

rice wine, you drink a bit and you start feeling warm and fuzzy and alla sudden WHAM! It hits you and you're feeling drunk.(Well I exaggerate a little). It's got a fairly strong alcohol taste comparable to vodka but is pretty good. I find it also good for making screwdrivers or if you prefer sukurudoraiba(LOL).

Oh believe me, I have no wish to get a hangover the next morning, or to wind up puking all over the place (I hate cleaning).

lol, I had my first drinking experience on new years eve 2008(I'm 25), it was......interesting. I didn't get that drunk, at least I don't think so, a little dizzy, no hangover the next morning. I got drunk for the second time a few weeks ago, very dizzy and horrors of horrors, I danced! Just a little hangover the next morning.

Prysm and I invented an awesome drink during our deconversion process.

"The Exxon Valdez"

2 parts Jones Creme Soda (its super clear and delicious)

1 part Captain Morgan Tattoo Rum

Put ice in glass.

Pour in the Jones.

Slowly pour in the Rum.

Your glass should have the look of an oil spill ... and will taste amazing.

Ahhhh, alcohol… Alcohol and I have a long history!

I didn’t drink until I was 18 years old. Once I started, I drank A LOT for about a year. I drank so much that I had frequent black outs and I was often heard saying, “No…. I didn’t REALLY do that, did I?”

I stopped drinking, married a teetotaler, and did not drink for the next 19 ½ years. Once I divorced the asshole, I tried to make up for lost time!!! I sat in my favorite restaurant drinking lots and lots of margaritas while I studied for my college classes. I drank my way through my bachelors and my masters.

I remarried after five years and my drinking was off and on depending on what was going on in my life. Although I am still married, I moved in mid-2006 and for the first time in my life, I lived alone. Even though I have a lot of friends, at the end of last year, I was really struggling with living alone, and beer became my best friend! I started going out to my favorite bar (featured in the Tgif thread) at least a couple times a week and I became quite the party girl! I generally drink beer or margaritas, but I have a couple of friends who love to do shots and they taught me how to lick, slam, suck shots of tequila. The really funny part of this is that I was not only attending church on Sunday mornings, but I was also teaching Sunday school to the 3rd and 4th graders. Thankfully, I have a very hearty constitution so I do not usually suffer from hangovers. (Tab, Mike's Hard Lemonade gave me one hell of a hangover! You're right, it goes down fast!!!) However, for those times that I do get sick, I can tell you hangovers and teaching Sunday school are not a good mix!!!

I’ve mellowed a little since last year. I don’t go out nearly as much, but when I do I have a ton of fun! And… I still tie one on every once in a while!!!!!
