Chick Tracts

Was curious to know how many of you are familiar with "chick tracts"? www.chick.com ( sound like a porn site I know)

Probably most because these things seem to turn up everywhere.

Much to my chagrin I used to leave these little shitty, hate-filled, nut- brained, pieces of

hardcore Xian propaganda around when I was a Fundy. I was too shy to actually, verbally

witness to people, thank goodness, so I used tracts instead, thinking I was gaining brownie

points with Jebus. Well, at least I never got into anybody's face and made an ass of myself, but

when I started to deconvert, I realized how repulsive and idiotic "chick tracts" were.

Does anyone else have any experiences they would like to share about these cheesy, outrageous, slices of Fundy

"culture" ?

BTW- here is a great parody site mocking the tracts at http://www.weirdcrap.com/chick/archive.html

I especially like the one called "Scream for your God!"

I once asked the manager of the Xtian bookstore why they stocked those horrible things, and it essentially came down to money - the store manager didn't like them either and didn't agree with Chick's theology but they sold well.

I remeber chick tracts, they were quite appealing to me when I was little as I liked the drawings. Did you see the one about the worldy man who goes about his day drinking, looking at women and being bored in church? The grim reaper comes after him and I will never forget the picture of him burning in hell, its a shame to see artistic talent put to such disgusting waste. Also god was just as scary as the devil, he didnt even have a face!

The things should better be called "shit tracts" for that's what they are. :lmao:

You know, it seems that these could be used for a pretty good signaling system for things like dead-drops and the like. There may be a use for them after all.

Yeah. I'm very familiar with Jack Chick's tracts. My aunt and uncle are overseas militant missionaries for a Baptist group that uses his material. He's such a jackass, it's almost cute. Cute in an I'd like to kick him square in the balls kind of way, but cute nonetheless.

I actually found Ex-Christian forums through a link on weird crap after looking at the Jack Chick parodies for the first time several years ago. Those are great parodies. I love the one where God says "PULL MY FINGER!!!"

Yes, I believe that is the infamous "This was your life" tract. Did you know Jack Chick actually got the idea for his tracts from Communist

Chinese propaganda tracts from the 1950s? Theirs was probably more artistic and less offensive.

That is a good name for them. I used to leave them on newspaper boxes outside grocery stores, in doctor's offices, etc. in my raving lunatic

Fundy days. I tried not to let anyone see me when I did though. I think that even then I subconsciously knew it was like taking a metaphorical

shit in public. The thing is I live in the Bible belt and the market is oversaturated with Fundy BS, so I doubt I did much damage. Actually think

they do the Xian cause more harm than good they are so idiotic. Whenever I see a Fundy propaganda tract sitting out anywhere I go now, I take

them and throw them in the trash, just in case. But, really you would have to take the short bus to school to be persuaded by things like these.

Glad you were brought into the fold here thanks to Jack Chick. Probably not what he intended.

Yes, I love the "weirdcrap" parodies of the Chick tracts. In fact, I wish I had a fleet of C-140s filled to the brim with these things

and drop them all over America, especially the South. I think they are a great counter to evangelical thinking and fucking hilarious to boot.

I remember the first time I saw the Chick tract on Harry Potter. It was so obnoxious that I thought it was a parody because I didn't think there was any way someone could take that seriously. I love the one on evolution where they make it out so that Darwinism is a religion and all evolutionists are atheists who believe magical goo turned into monkeys and then turned into humans and that atheists don't believe in following rules, so we worship ourselves as God.

I haven't seen those before. It's like chrisitan porn or S/M! The 'sinners' repent and apologize and kneel, and the good christians get their way. It's sort of kinky.

Yup it's tales from the jebus cult's twilight zone, where the believers are automatically Herrenmenschen just because they believe, and all others are automatically Untermenschen and should better be content and even happy with their lot in gawd's regime :Hmm:

At least that's how it seems to me.

Yep. Horrible hateful things, full of lies and prejudice. I had a huge collection of them as a christian and used to leave them lying around the workplace for people to read.

I spent a lot of time doing some spoofs of them myself. Have about 40 of them. Was posting them on MySpace and Facebook, but realised they were very provocative and I didn't really want to upset my Christian friends. I'd love to post them on a website somewhere though.

I grew up with the Chick tracts. Horrible things with drawings of people in chains falling endlessly in the fires of hell. Lousy fundy Christian propaganda. Children ought not to be exposed to them.

Children should definitely not be exposed to them. I found the ones like this to be particularly offensive.

How dare he threaten an innocent dying little girl with hellfire? Jack T. Chick is a sick fuck!

This is one of the reasons I am no longer a Xian, that kind of thinking.

It is mental pornography of the worst kind.

My first introduction to anything like the bible or theology was actually through chick tracks that I would find lying around the school when I was in fourth and fifth grade.

Most people's imagination of god is usually the old man with the beard from a Michelangelo painting. My first idea of god was a faceless, shining robed being sitting on a throne - - taken from a sadistic chick tract.

Those tracts were creepy!

That was the most fucked up thing I have ever seen/ read. As a child, I would have been scarred by seeing this. What a horrible way to try to manipulated people - especially children.

I'm one of the kids who got his mind fucked up by chick tracts. Those things scared the shit out of me! I so hope there is an afterlife, and that Robert Ingersoll is cracking his knuckles , waiting for Jack Chick.

I remember back when I was heavily involved in street evangelism years ago, using "Four Spiritual Laws" or "Peace with God" tracks, but even then as a Fundie stayed away from those things...way too EXTREME. I remember scaring people to Jesus sharing about hell, but those things we're just insane, filled with crazy images of torment and spewing hate. If anything at this point, they are a good laugh.

I think it would be funny as hell to take some of the fake parody tracks that imitate Chick and place them in churches...and the more fundy the better...LOL. :HaHa:

LOL! We've secretly changed this youth group's Jack Chick tracts with Dave's Weird Crap Jack Chick Parodies. Let's see if the people they're witnessing to can tell the difference.

I have the graphics in Photobucket, but I put my text underneath each graphic. I have them all on Word documents at the moment, so I can't post any links unfortunately. Maybe I need to start up a webpage that focusses on them.

While these vile things are incredibly offensive...they DO accurately depict fundy theology, an embarassing fact for less insensitive believers.
