RationalOkie
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/id/program.html I'm sure they are going to do one on His Noodliness soon. They probably just want to vet this ridiculous theory first.
NonXNonExX
Huh? Maybe it's just b/c i'm staying up too late i don't understand you. I assume the "ridiculous theory" is cretinism, but i wouldn't even give it so much credit by calling it a theory. Can you explain better what your comment means? And who is "His Noodliness"? Neon Genesis
I just finished watching this documentary and enjoyed it. Micheal Behe is like the epitome of fundamentalist stupidity. It's like he's never seen the movie Inherit The Wind since he uses nearly all the same arguments the creationists in that film used. That Buckingham guy pissed me off with how he called Judge Jones a jackass and a clown yet that's precisely what Buckingham is. I enjoyed Ken Miller tearing Behe's arguments to shreds but at the same time I have to roll my eyes a bit at Miller's claim that religion and science are in harmony with each other when here he is facing a clash between religion and science himself and the Catholic church is just as anti-science as fundies are. They just aren't when it comes to evolution but will ignore science on every other religion vs science issue. I was also a bit annoyed at the theistic evolutionists who were talking about how people were claiming they were atheists. I'm not sure what irritated me more, that fundies were using atheism as an insult or that these Christians felt offended at being associated with those evil atheists. It was still worth watching and I can't understand how the xtians can still think they're the ones right when they were shot down and their insanity humiliated for all to see by Judge Jones. I actually kind of sympathized with the Christian family who were "insulted" by being called atheists. I mean, their community was telling them that because of their current actions, they were obviously just lying about their personal beliefs. To me, that's rather similar to Christians who assert that anyone who deconverts was never a REAL christian in the first place. No one wants to have their personal truths denied and shut down like that.
RationalOkie
....anyone who deconverts was never a REAL christian in the first place. No one wants to have their personal truths denied and shut down like that. That's exactly what I was pissed about. There are people in my family that say this about me. Hell, probably most of the people on this board could say the same. I wish they would put a label on all the "TRUE" christians so I could tell them a part. bird28
I watched part of it. I didn't know Robert Pennock was involved in the trial. He was one of my professors!!! He was the professor I wrote the pro Noah's Ark paper for, lol. We had to read this book in this class, very good read: http://www.amazon.com/Tower-Babel-Evidence...m/dp/0262661659 I wonder if he still remembers me? What I meant is that I'm just annoyed that the word atheist is used as an insult at all and this attitude that nobody wants to be associated with atheists. And it's ironic that the early Christians were actually accused of being atheists by the Romans because they didn't worship the Roman gods so apparently they haven't learned any lessons from history.
