Obama Speaks With Forked Tongue!

:banghead: Jesus! It would be nice to be proud of my government just once before I die. But fuck no, I've got to go around with this sick feeling in the gut all the time! *$&(# #**&(( #*$&(@ :banghead:

I guess growing up in the Bush administration already jaded me beyond recovery when it comes to our political system. I stopped caring what they said or what they did a long time ago. I'm going to live my life on my own terms regardless. Politicians = liars. Maybe they can accidentally do something right every once and a while but thats all I am going to expect.

For whatever it is worth I did vote for Obama and I don't regret it per se because I doubt McCain would have been better and I truly and utterly hated Palin. The two party system of political whores has long since outlived its usefulness. Is it wrong to hope for anarchy?

I'm preemptively puking in my mouth now at the thought of die hard Obama supporters who are surely going to apologize for his position on this.

I'm trying to think back at the things the government has done over the past two centuries that I'm actually proud of. I think I can probably count them on one hand. More often than not it seems any good they have done has been forced on them. For example, Civil Liberties wouldn't have been invoked without a swell of ground pressure on the leaders.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't their last truly benevolent act the implementation of the Bill of Rights?

Maybe we need to preemptively sue people for damages too? I will sue Obama for causing financial harm to my family, by increasing the taxes to a point where I can't pay them and not support my family, because he might do it 2 years from now. I think I should sue him for all potential future tax costs, accumulated, with interest, and future prognosticated inflation calculated into it. I could make a fortune... But then of course he probably would have me put in jail, preemptively for tax evasion for the same future money I would get prematurely. Damn! This becomes just as confusing as the grandfather paradox!

Yeah. I like political theory and philosophy. Politics in the real world, not so much. It borders on religion from a supporters perspective and downright lack of integrity from a politician's perspective. They didn't teach us to be self righteous, manipulative, egotistical and overly ambitious in school.

New boss, same as the old boss, chapter 26

Disloyal Opposition

by JD Tuccille

"President Barack Obama is actively considering issuing an executive

order authorizing the continued, indefinite detention of terrorism

suspects, without trial, according to the Washington Post and Pro

Publica. The news is widely being treated as a shocking about-face for

a president who has criticized his predecessor's harsh tactics in

dealing with alleged terrorists. But for anybody paying attention,

this is just one more step along a path the president has has already

traveled, with indefinite detention hinted at in a May speech and even

championed by the Obama administration in legal papers filed in

March." (06/30/09)

Looks like the same people who got to Bush have now gotten to Obama. Military shits and CIA pukes who whisper "what if you let these people go and one of them pulled another 9/11? Where would your career be then? Your legacy?"

If we have no legal evidence to try these people on, we need to deport them to their countries of origin, hand them over to the authorities there, and let the chips fall where they may. The possibility of attacks by nutcases is part of the price we pay for freedom. But I can just hear the reich-wing blowhards screaming bloody murder if Obama released Gitmo detainees. And if one of them caused so much as a paper cut on a US citizen, there would be political hell to pay.

The Founders were right: we need to limit who can vote in this country. Right now the political process makes American Idol look like well-reasoned and thoughtful debate.

I read "The Trial" by Fanz Kafka a while back. Never realized it was a book of prophecy.

Pretty fucking depressing about Obama. I'd really hoped he'd turn out better than this.

If anybody needs me, I'll be hiding under my bed.

I identify myself as an anarchist, but with the way the world works, and anarchistic way of functioning will not work since it will make us prone to annihilation.

MSNBC is liberal and they will admonish Democrats who aren't as liberal as they would like them to be.

why is it that defending the constitution has suddenly become a liberal, ultra left position? anyone who doesn't appeal to reptilian fears nowadays seems to get the ultra left label slapped on them.

Just to play devil's advocate...in other wars prisoners were captured and kept imprisoned for the duration of the war. Does anyone think this was a bad policy? Oh we just captured 1,000 German soldiers, lets send them home, who cares if the war isn't over yet? We can trust them not to fight again or support the war effort in any way can't we?

Al Qaeda members certainly act or think like they are at war with the United States and western countries. Wouldn't it be fair to hold thier fighters also for the duration of said war, till Al Qaeda promises to Allah to renounce its Jihad perhaps?

Those German soldiers were clearly soldiers with rank, serial #, etc... The problem here is we can just slap the AQ label on any ME schmo and he's suddenly an enemy combatant. Where's the proof if they don't even get a trial and representation? This just invites serious abuses of power that we should all be afraid of.

And of course there are rules for keeping prisoners of war which we are not following. And the previous administration went out of their way to be sure they weren't classified as prisoners of war. They are classified as criminals which means they are supposed to get their day in court -- a speedy trial.

At first, I thought Obama would be a good thing for the United States of America. Then he decided to ram through bailouts for the big banks, so the people responsible for screwing everything up could give themselves huge bonuses on the backs of the taxpayers. Then he turned around and told General Motors that they'd need a plan before getting any money. They got their money when they came up with a plan that involved slashing thousands of working-class jobs in America, so they can keep people employed in Mexico and China. There's no way the American taxpayers will ever benefit from any of these bailouts.

Now this. If I were an American, I'd want to move to Canada where the Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects its citizens from any kind of "Prolonged Detention." I'd rather have section 11 of my charter over the second amendment any day of the week.
