Neon Genesis Posted October 12, 2009 Share Posted October 12, 2009 I've just gotten out of my second class and I was randomly approached by a Gideon asking me if I wanted one of their NT bibles. They rudely had shoved it in my face but I just said no thank you and moved on. I knew they were allowed to stand outside school grounds but they were out in the area between all the class buildings and up near the student center. I'm on the computer at the campus library right now and one of their bibles is staring me in the face at the moment. I don't know if a student grabbed one and left it here by accident or if the Gideons came in here themselves and left it there. Either way, it's kinds of irritating having it in front of me. I can't help but wonder if they let Muslims hand out copies of the Koran or atheists hand out copies of The God Delusion on campus grounds but I don't know if colleges are typically more flexible about this sort of thing than high schools are? OpheliaGinger Posted October 12, 2009 Share Posted October 12, 2009 If I were in a foul mood, I would have just snarled and said, "Get your bullshit out of my face," and walked on, but most times I'm not and just tell them, "no thank you." If you think they are doing what they are not supposed to (peddling their bullshit on school grounds) you can go to the head office and make a formal complaint, but I doubt anything would be done of it. I'd bet a muslim or atheist or pagan could hand out material as well, it just might be received much differently.
