southjerseygirl36
Okay I admit it I did it a few weeks ago. And the preacher talked about how to build her church in the message with a special plan. So here I go FINALLY to church all to hear someone who is extreeeeeeeeemely selfish speaking. Even the story about the Day of Pentocost was all about how the church grew, he got nothing else from that passage. It was all about growth and the church is already 2000 members. oi vey. why did I go? someone slap me, hard, but not break nothin' okay?
Midnight-mindwanderings
Hehe, the last time I went to church it was their yearly Tithing sermon. So it was all about how they needed money for their very important missionary work blah blah blah. And a new speaker system etc. The time before that it was on the evils of Islam. I enjoy it when church can remind us oh so well what we are not missing.
Vomit Comet
I've been back to church three times. For funerals. Two out of three were Catholic, so I guess that doesn't count.

HRDWarrior
I went to church a number of times (heck a good couple years) after I stopped personally considering myself a christian...but at the time I still wasn't ready to admit out loud that I no longer believed in a god. Although since during that time my deconversion was progressing still, the scale shifted for obvious reasons - the last few times I went with my hubby I think it was as much out of desperation to hear something that would possibly change my mind. Instead I ended up drawing in my sketch book the entire time. Honestly, I was bored in church for the last 10 years I went. I never heard anything new or challenging, and was really wondering why the hell I felt obligated to warm a seat most Sundays. Since I cut the cord completely, I haven't been back. There's a part of me that would be interested in possibly going just out of morbid curiosity so I could really just sit there and secretly (or not so secretly) laugh at the absurdity of it all....but that would be my only reason in going. Since I have no desire to deal with the drama from seeing people who would act like they missed me (even though they haven't said shit to us in 2 years) and I don't know that I could keep my mouth shut at least in that regard - if not in others as well, probably best if I don't go. I also don't want to give the impression that I'm still a christian to those who've never asked....I'm not part of that crowd, and I don't want people to put two and two together and think I still am. Vomit Comet
I'd go to church to get laid. But only once. Maybe twice.
dichotomy
Last time I went to church I had a bit of an *episode* and ended up going for counselling a few weeks later. It was enough of an experience to tell me never to go again. Oh no, tell a lie, I think I went to my mum's church with her a few weeks after the above incident, but that was a *nice* traditional Methodist hymn/prayer sandwich - no one really notices if you're asleep - kind of service so I just snoozed a bit with one eye open and stood up when I was meant to. WillWSF
I went to church a few weeks ago, the Sunday after the earthquake in Haiti, because I wanted to see what the pastor had to say about it. It's a big church, not too conservative. .. Nada! He didn't even pray about Haiti. I was pretty disappointed, wished they could've shown a little more compassion.
