qec
(bullshit rant) Posts like that remind me of how lucky I am to have a fulfilling life, because it's obvious that not everyone does... It's like ContraBardus was saying: he's just raging people. He prolly gets home from either his job at Kroger taking shit from people all day long, or his job as a CEO of some big name company taking shit from people all day long and running around like a chicken with his head cut off, and then he comes on teh internetz and rages people while sitting back, smoking bud, and laughing his ass off. Just ignore it. Like the next time this guy puts up a topic just don't respond. Like, nobody respond. You're just being raged for the hell of it; he's doing it because he gets a kick out of this shit. He's not mentally ill, he's not someone who needs to be medicated, it's just like Contrabardus says: this guy is here for the lulz. Don't let him get a rise out of you and he will leave, simple as that.

summerbreeze
Has this guy mentioned his name somewhere previously (I know while using a different name)? http://skippytheskeptic.blogspot.com/2008/05/who-hell-is-david-mabus.html http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2009/09/update_on_dennis_markuze.php Search for David Mabus. He's just an idiot who wants attention. He suffers some kind of keyboard-Tourette's. redlemon
He's been spamming the fstdt.net forums for a while now, at least over a month. Considering they're still up and around, I don't think he's doing a good job on shutting these websites down.

NonXNonExX
Maybe it's just me, but i couldn't figure out just exactly what it is Mabus is trying to say. Maybe, although it is doubtful, he might attract a few more believers to his "cause" if he could only write a little more coherently. On the other hand, maybe he is just randomly venting and doesn't really expect anyone to follow him. BTW, are there any pictures of this character somewhere on the net (besides Facebook, Twitter or YouTube, which are all blocked here)? I consider myself to be a fairly rational person, but kooks like Mabus i find really interesting.

You know, I was wondering if anyone else got that. It's sort of like telling people to delete the 'Win32' virus in their HD, or slipping 'del c:/WINDOWS/System32' into 'protip' instructions for how to hack into their dad's porn files, but not quite as mean or funny. Didn't want to say anything on the off chance it might actually work though.
Astreja
You know, I was wondering if anyone else got that. I worked in IT for eight years, and actually taught a TCP/IP course over the Internet. When I saw that UserFriendly cartoon for the first time, I just howled. (It's right up there with the Dilbert cartoon where our hero tells the Pointy-Haired Boss that the token has fallen out of his token ring network cable and is lost on the floor somewhere.) It's sort of like telling people to delete the 'Win32' virus in their HD, or slipping 'del c:/WINDOWS/System32' into 'protip' instructions for how to hack into their dad's porn files, but not quite as mean or funny. Já, doing a DOS attack on oneself will just kill the network connection. "rm -rf /", on the other hand... *shudder*

Didn't want to say anything on the off chance it might actually work though. Oh trust me, DOSing against 127.0.0.1 works just fine. The speed you get from your local IP stack is blazing fast (unless your machine is messed up) since the attack will never hit the wire. Now for the the real geeks do the same attack against the broadcast address (Teardrop is especially interesting here). Depending on your OS the results can be disastrous

User Friendly is one of my favorite web comics. She's my hero in this particular strip. <turns on innocent look> Not that I've ever told someone to do what she did... yeah right. Ouroboros
"rm -rf /", on the other hand... *shudder* A long time ago I did this command by mistake: rm .* -r (Long time, meaning a long time before they added confirmation on recursive deletes.) My intention was to delete the hidden files in the directory but forgot that it would also include the .., and ../.*, and so on. I didn't realize my mistake until the OS started to scream: "Can't delete 'rm' because it is in use." It was a true FML moment.

I'm reminded of that scene from Buffy The Vampire Slayer where Buffy is new in town and Cordellia and her friends are making fun of her and Willow tries to defend Buffy. Then Cordellia is trying to figure out what to do with her assignment after she finishes typing it up and Willow tells her "deliver." Cordellia sees the DEL key and thinks that means deliver, so she presses it and the whole assignment gets deleted.
