R. S. Martin
Okay, this is a rant in response to a Christian's post. ^ Unless Rom 1:20 is true, then we'd both have two very different perspectives - the Christian saying 'it's obvious!' and the atheist saying '... what's obvious...?' Obviously, you come from the perspective that one can choose whichever view of reality (so-called world view as defined by Ronald Nash) one wishes and make that one's "truth." That is just plain ridiculous. Not even your biblical writers believed that. That is a very new post-modern idea borrowed from relativism to make life easy and cushy for people who don't want to accept reality as it really is. The Bible teaches cause and effect, to find truth and live by it. It is seriously out-dated, to be sure, but that was its original intent so far as I can see. Here is Rom 1:20: 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even† his eternal power and Godhead; sog that they are without excuse: † A Greek word occurs that is not directly translated in the King James Version. Greek Strongs: 3739 Greek Strongs: 5037 g so...: or, that they may be The Holy Bible : King James Version. 1995 (Ro 1:20). Oak Harbor, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc. That was the wisdom of the day. As I said, it is seriously out-dated and we can no longer take it literally. That much is obvious. What is also obvious is that some Christians--most specifically most of the Christians posting on these forums--distort the reality of the universe to fit their own religion. So no, the atheist is not asking "What is obvious?" The atheist it telling the Christian the obvious but the Christian is plugging his ears and blind-folding his eyes, shaking his head and stamping his feet and calling his invisible God to witness. Obviously, the invisible is identical to the nonexistent and/or imaginary.
