Guest Toriach
My brothers and sisters out of Christ. Greetings. I am pleased to discover that this forum exists. I wish that it had been around when I had My break with christianity. I was raised devout and I believed. I wanted to save people from hell. But the older I got the more I looked around the more I began to doubt. I tried to read the bible hoping I could find some reason to continue to believe. But the more I read the more I doubted. And I made friends with atheists, agnostics, non christians who believed in god (deists) and we shared so many beliefs that I could not understand how any creator who loved his creation would send them to hell. Finally I came to a fork in the road and I had to make a decision. I decided that I could not believe in a God more emotionally screwed up than I am. From there it was the long road to accepting that I was not going to go to hell. It took a while. But finally I stand here free from dogma, free from fear. I believe in god, but not the god of the christian bible. I am happy, as well adjusted as any of us ever are. *L* And I do not regret for one moment using My reason to guide My beliefs instead of the other way around. So if you have found this forum and only recently made your break with christianity let Me give you a great big hug and reassure you that you are not alone. You will be alright. And further more if you still choose to believe in god that he, she, it whatever term you wish to use will and can still love you. Exactly as you are. In fact the god I have a personal relationship with would never want anyones belief because of fear or ignorance. Any way, it's late for Me so I'm going to go to bed. But I will look forward to talking more with people here soon. Peace And Long Life Toriach

Your statements will probably raise some eyebrows, but who cares - you sound reasonable, so welcome to our weird little site (So, do I get it right that you are - kind of - a deist?) Anyway, may the High Gods of the North be with you and light your way, whatever it may be

Loren
Welcome, Toriach! Glad to see you here. You seem to have a desire to help others who haven't gone as far down the road as you. You may already be familiar with a lot of this material, but if not, the archived articles on this site are full of useful information. Archived articles. Looking forward to seeing you around! Guest Toriach
*smiling broadly* Thanks for the warm welcomes all. Loren thanks for the link, this weekend when I have more than a few minutes here and there I'll dive in and give the archives a look. Thurisaz you are correct that I am a Deist in part. I also have some views shaped by Buddhism, some by "paganism" and a few I won't deny by christianity although with a vastly different interpetation that what most dogmatics believe. Oh and Fweethawt, better keep two eye on Me. I'm slippery. *g* P A L L Toriach
