Went to a mosque today

So my Islam in Modern Society class went to a mosque today. It was rather predictable and what you would expect. Lots of devout worshippers-- white, black, but mostly MIddle Eastern and Indian/Pakistani. I have to admit that watching all of them pray in unison was pretty cool but I suspect that is part of the reason Islam reaches people-- a sense of commnity. The little sermon was about natural disasters and how it isn't God's fault, it is just "nature" (nevermind that fact that God supposedly created nature). At least the speaker condemned those who claim that hurricanes and tsumamis are God's wrath to sinners.

The interesting part was that there was another group observing with us. There were from several of the large conservative non-denominational and baptist churches around Indianapolis. They were a group (our professor later told us) that was there JUST to learn about how to relate to Muslims. The goal of this club is to evangelise Muslims. Isn't that disgusting!?

Yes, but not too surprising. From their point of view they need to save these poor misinformed souls... :Wendywhatever:

Yeah, they (non-denom-bapt's) need to bring their Truth™ to the Muslims in order to save them from their own Truth™.

We can't design a working perpetual motion machine, but we perfected the perpetual hatred machine long-long ago.
