Is Jesus own words proof the Church has failed?

According to:

Joh 13:34-35 KJVA  A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.  (35)  By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

And then consider how much strife and conflict there is between all Christian denominations.

Shouldn't unity and love between all Churches and Christians be the proof that they are true disciples?

So is the lack of unity and love the proof that Christians of today are not disciples of Jesus?

*edit*

And also

Eph 4:15-16 ISV  Instead, by speaking the truth in love, we will grow up completely into the one who is the head, that is, into Christ,  (16)  in whom the whole body is united and held together by every ligament with which it is supplied. As each individual part does its job, the body's growth is promoted so that it builds itself up in love.

Love will keep the body of Christ united.

Very simple. True christians love each others as the bible says. Thus if there is stife there are people involved who say they are christians but in reallity are not.

Of course the denomination you are is the True christian denomination.

See?

Bible proved to be True.

Now challenge that Mr.Heathen!

Don't forget that it means that you should only love other christians...

When dealing with any non-christian, you can be as hateful as you like, knowing that Jesus never told you to be nice to them.

Wasn't that what Creosote was babbling about before?

HanSolo, it seems to me that you should be a politician. You've figured out how to get ALL the votes!

If the 'Christians' don't act like Christians, are therefore NOT Christians... that proves that they should not have their power in politics today... making all the ExChristians, Atheist, and Agnostics happy. Because now the soapbox/platform falls away. If we say that we ARE Christians and there is so much division, then we must admit that either Christ is failing or we are wrong... and you know what we are going to say. You win both ways on this one.

Maybe if the soapbox was pulled away, it would cause Christians to rally and get more unified and use more reason in our beliefs... then I think we would be stronger, with better attitudes.

Maybe the soapbox is slippery... ;)
