I'm a bit confused. Price's position is that Christianity is simply another dying/rising savior mythology taken from the pagan religions of its day. The themes that are not present in the mythologies (in his opinion) are taken from popular novels of the day. So obviously he doesn't consider Christianity to be unique. Though I think in my personal observation it's interesting to note that Christianity unlike other religions has an obsession over orthodoxy rather than orthopraxy.

Well, now I am confused because that is not what the person I was debating said. He was denying that the gospel stories were based on any kind of astrology, that it was purely Jewish mythology, and that the pagan mythology was added later. I also claim that Christianity was simply another dying/rising savior mythology. (What else could it possibly be? It is like the only logical conclusion.)

I think he mentioned his views in one of his recent podcasts here. As for the astrological connection, I'm not sure if Price would say that (I haven't read or listened enough of his material to be dogmatic) there is a definite connection. I think he sees a lot of connections with the gospel narratives to that of pagan novels of the day as well as earlier mythologies. I don't remember him mentioning astrology but I wouldn't be surprised if there is a connection and that he would agree with it.

My mistake. The person was citing some loony called R.G. Price. That is what I get for not being familiar with Robert Price's work.
