pratt Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Met my old church friends (I left the church about 15 years ago) for lunch last weekend. One of the guys, 60 y/o, was stricken with a nerve (spinal cord on neck) ailment and affected his right leg, and he has been dragging for past 3-4 years, and his right hand unable to feel and numb sometimes (not stroke if anyone should ask). He has gotten through surgery. When asked how has he been getting along, he said: "Has been praying hard for The Lord to remove the sickness, but He has not done it yet. I have been going to faith healings sessions but no avail. But still clinging on to faith, even though at times I feel like giving up the faith." This guy has known church for at least 50 years of his time, but would sound cruel to burst his bubble that there is no God, and chances of praying to get physically better is slimmer than striking a lottery and there is no afterlife. I did not reply him on the matter, and I believe that being by his side and have a good company, is better than giving him false hope by praying for him.
Guest riverrunner Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 well maybe at a better time you could pose the question, "why would god allow this to happen in the first place? just so you could beg to be healed?". at some point he will have to deal with ways to get along. my friend lost his hand he sure isn't praying to get it back but he is learning to live without it.
