hereticzero Posted December 11, 2010 Share Posted December 11, 2010 I must have missed the point in the article that made this a 'new' theory. Ever since I was a kid I have heard in science class the earth started as a ball of gas that eventually hardened, or whatever the process is, and over time became as we know it now. How is this different than what the article claims about gas giants becoming earth like over time? I just don't see the newness of his theory. Droptail Posted December 13, 2010 Share Posted December 13, 2010 Maybe it's the idea that the planets all form on the outer (beyond 50 AU) edges of the solar disk and then move later...I read once about Earth having had longer years in its past history, which would suggest a further orbit from the sun...
