Goodbye Jesus

Do You Have A Penis?

Vixentrox, this is ex-christin.net, that means we all used to be Christians, some longer than others. I think it's ridiculous to imply that there's no hope for Christians to change their minds when you are posting on a board specifically created for ones who have.

foolish girl, I hope they come to their senses and let the girls participate if they want. At the very least, you brought up how silly it is.

Good point! There is hope for him. I honestly think there is too. He is so smart, he just has to let himself think beyond the walls .

Why not just straight up tell your daughter the truth? Tell her you spoke to the "boss"and he says he doesn't want girls to do it. Tell her you dont think its right and you are mad too and the church has lots of unfair rules for girls. As long as she is there, she may as well learn what true xtianity is.

Marty,

thanks- I do. (did) She and I have conversations like this. I think you all can see from my recent posts here (like the Lord said to Noah, and this one) that I don't just nod and smile anymore. I am making my way through all of this. As things are age appropriate or relevant to her life (same with the boys) We talk about it.

Doin the best I can here.

Sounds like you're doing a great job.

Don't throw things at me... :wicked:

I think smart women allow their men the illusion of authority. :HaHa:

Smart women lie to their partners? You want dishonest partners Legion who don't ever expect their men to question their sad need for authority in the first place????? Better get one of them there unedumacated ones :)

your church is WEIRD.

Can you name a church that isn't? They are very in to the roles of men and women. It makes me WANT to be scandalous.

My old church (a Missouri Syn. Lutheran) let boys and girls do the same things. The only thing, as I recall, a woman couldn't do was preach (as in be the top-dog, name on the office door, preacher though they could lead portions of the service) but I think even that has changed since I've left. They did teach the whole Paul spiel with christ->man->woman and all that but nothing, and I mean nothing, like some of these churches do. It's a little much.

I'm so sorry and I wish things could be different. But as long as she has you backing her up she will be fine. It is a sick, disgusting religion that hurts and divides people.

I wish I read this earlier. When I read the title yesterday, I didn't notice who posted it.

Of course, ideally, your kids wouldn't be going to church at all, but, of course, your situation just isn't ideal. But on the bright side, with you talking to them about reality outside of church, their church experience might inoculate them against christianity. And this experience will teach your daughter what a misogynist religion christianity is. She might be crying now, but she might be wiser in the long run.

Inoculation is a comforting metaphor. And yeah, I was much older before anything like this ever occured to me. But then, I was in a Baptist church. This is the "Church of Christ" Way more into gender roles.

I have been frequently pissed ever since I joined this group (7 years)......So It is important that we talk about it. Fo-sho.

I am going to have a talk with my older boys and husband to. He is more reasonable with me, than he is at church. I am going to tell them that I don't want them to help with the baskets anymore. The way I see it, leadership doesn't

come from carrying baskets of bread, but it may show up when you say "no, this isn't nice, right or reasonable and I don't want to be part of it."

I may not be able to take them out of church, but I can sure as hell make them think!

I bet the breadbaskets are so heavy that people need a penis for counterbalance.

My compliments to anyone with a penis capable of being a counterbalance.

Hey, you should just be thankful that they actually allowed to you to talk in Church. Women aren't even supposed to talk in church, you know. Rules is rules!

I just wanted to say penis one more time

so what is the breadbasket supposed to symbolize anyway? And how come only boys can carry bread? I think I missed the context there.

Even though it's stupid I am kind of curious.

It's leadership training. See?

So the BOYS are the leaders..........:/

They also ask for volunteers in Sunday school class for prayers, but always choose a boy.

<_<

So I am becoming unruly. I have been thinking that this whole going to church thing would be more fun if I shared my feelings with others more.....

Perhaps you should demand to be allowed to volunteer to help pass out crackers and grape juice for the lard's suppper.

exactly. It is the Lord's Supper for babies.

You know I have been skipping the lords supper since July and my kids haven't even noticed? Last week the decon/usher/dude passed the plate to me and I just kept passing it down. I could feel him eye-balling me. I swear! Maybe he has noticed that I never take it any more. Any way I don't even know this guy and he is eye-balling me. He probably didn't realize that he was doing it. So I just raised my eyes up for a little direct eye-contact which suprised him. then my eyebrows go up....Like "yes?"....and he looked away.

:lmao:

on the way by me when they were going to the back of the room again he did look my way again...not sure what he was thinking. It seemed like he was trying to size me up. Maybe to sic the elders on me.

At this point, i would welcome that. Bring it!

I have been thoroughly enjoying watching this thread unfold! That's about the same time I also quit taking communion. Our church typically does it once a month; the congregation goes up and gets their own bread and juice. I work in the sound booth so we didn't get it, until one of the assistant pastors started bringing it back for us three guys that work back there. This assistant pastor happens to be the same guy that I had used as an accountability partner at one time. So I shake my head "No" and go back to whatever it was I was doing. About two days later, I get an email to the effect of "It's none of my business, but am curious why you didn't take communion. The internet porn isn't giving you trouble again, is it?" I was brutally honest with him and told him I wasn't sure that Christianity was true, and wasn't sure if God existed, etc. so wasn't comfortable doing it anymore. Did get an email back about how Jesus had to be the Messiah since people smarter than us said he was, and we don't want to be able to understand God, now do we? I didn't ever respond to that one, and he doesn't offer communion to me anymore.

Does the boy with the biggest penis get the biggest basket? Fair is fair.
