Goodbye Jesus

3 Reasons

1. Because I thought the church had secret knowledge that everyone else just wasn't listening too.

2. God was real and "talked" to him every day.

3. I thought it was the only option.

Why did you once 'serve' God?

  1. I felt grateful for being "saved" through Jesus' sacrifice. I had been taught that I deserved hell and owed everything* to God for his "free gift" of forgiveness.
  2. I believed it was "the right thing to do" to worship the God who made everything and was the most powerful being in the universe.
  3. I was scared of hell. Even when I didn't feel particularly grateful (see #1) the fear -- or guilt over not remaining appropriately grateful -- would keep me involved.

* I believed I was worthless and wholly dependent on God's charity for any "goodness" in me. I bought into "worm theology" big time.
