Goodbye Jesus

Getting Blamed Again

I go this in my email box today.

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her 'How could God let something like this happen?' (regarding Hurricane Katrina).. Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, 'I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?'

In light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said okay.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing yet?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

My Best Regards, Honestly and respectfully,

Ben Stein

‘Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response’

No it was not profound or insightful – It is the same unreasonable, unfounded, uneducated and fear mongering trash that passes for ‘thought’ in xtian circles.

Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

I would say most schools and workplaces also ban ‘lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles’. This is muddling the argument, comparing apples with pears,(ie the internet with schools and workplaces)and is not valid.

I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) and:

(Dr. Spock's son committed suicide).

What is the author trying to say, that ‘ungodly’ people will commit murder or commit suicide, and, by bringing this into the argument, inferring that these don’t happen to ‘godly (ie xtian) people? Do xtians not murder (lol yeah right) or commit suicide - of course they do.

What kind of fear mongering is this? More to the point what kind of rubbish is this? thres a thread here about the numbers of people killed in the name of the xtian god. And lets not bring up all the catholic priests who rape boys. This is no better than saying a women deserves to be raped for wearing a short skirt .....

oh yes, some xtians do say that

'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'

Perhaps the author should do some research, a surprising number of xtians die alongside non xtians in natural disasters. As far as I know Hurricane Katrina didn’t bypass the homes of xitians (there must have been a few in New Orleans surely?).

Or is no one safe from the wrath (or indifference) of god. Xtian or non xtian? Because natural events that take lives are common throughout the world every year.

Why did the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti kill hundreds of thousands, and the 7.1 one in Christchurch NZ kill no one? Because NZ is more godly than Haiti? Well Haiti has 83.7 xtian population and NZ has 55.3 population claim to be xtian, so duh.... No – it was because NZ has building codes.

That is a rumor. Dr Spock's son did not commit suicide, his schizophrenic grandson did.

People that take Christianity seriously, especially evangelical are just plain trashy. I predict that in the future it will be mainly found in ghettos.

Maybe God is like Marduk. He's at one moment merciful, and spares the armies of Tiamat. Then at the next, he's so angry, you need to sacrifice animals to please him and make him happy again. He's got a split personality, one of a gentleman, and one of a barbaric psycho?

If God is omnipresent, how can he step away anyway? Wouldn't that also mean that we are all part of God, even hell and everyone in it?

I LOVE this little snippet from the snopes piece:

An ironic twist to this legend is that it is true about a psychologist who advocated a child-rearing approach diametrically opposed to the one Dr. Spock would later champion:

By the late 1920s, John B. Watson, the notably harsh but popular behavioral psychologist, combined rigorous views on child care with a dire estimation of the dangers of maternal affection. "Mother love is a dangerous instrument. An instrument which may inflict a never healing wound . . . which may make infancy unhappy, adolescence a nightmare, an instrument which may wreck your adult son or daughter's vocational future and their chances for marital happiness." Parents were advised to "never hug or kiss [their children]. Never let them sit on your lap. If you must, kiss them once on the forehead when you say goodnight."

Watson's son, William, committed suicide at age 40.

As I ventured further and further into the conservative christian homeschooling world, I found that the desire to return to "days of old" a familiar theme. As a history buff, even then, I found their premise lacing authenticity. There were NEVER any "good ole days" . Honestly, even a cursury look into the past proves them wrong...VERY, VERY wrong!

Oh my god.

I read this book once:

Train up a Child

oh my god. oh my god.

I did not implement the ideas, but just the fact that the book is available and some people DO.....I am sad to say that I though it had it's "merits" at the time, though I couldn't agree with spanking a baby (duh).

This book advocates switching kids starting in infancy. I call you- you come to me. FIRST time. You don't come? I calmly switch you.

Next time i call you you come.

How can you insult a place where people regularly steal and kill each other? Sounds like the perfect home for Christianity to me.

We are victims of an intolerant sky-fairy that likes to pull wings off flies too! God's people should be spared god's wrath. Earthquakes and floods should only kill those who do not believe. As it is, in the USA the majority of people claim to be Christian. It stands to reason, then, that the majority of people killed and injured in the USA by god's wrath are Christian, thus establishing the fact that it is the fault of all Christians that we are having the wrath of god poured out upon us! Christians fill our courts, jails, prisons, and death rows. With so many evil Christians running around, no wonder god flushes the planet with a tsunami toilet bowl rinse once in awhile! Ya gotta have faith!

Ok, I am so totally SICK AND FUCKING TIRED OF PEOPLE USING KATRINA TO SHOWCASE THEIR GOD'S WRATH!!!!

Seriously, it literally makes me SHAKE with anger.

NEVERMIND that Katrina also wiped out lots and lots of Gawd fearin' Baptists in Mississippi, and not just the "Mary worshiping" Catholics and "queers" in New Orleans.

Oh, and NEVER YOU FUCKING MIND that the area of the US known as TORNADO ALLEY for fuck's sake is also THE BIBLE BELT!

And nevermind that Las Vegas has NEVER SEEN A NATURAL DISASTER, EVER!!!!

Fuck me dead, these idiots need to be clubbed with the flaming crosses they put in people's yards.

The same way that someone could insult a small town in the South where people regularly fuck their sisters? Be careful with such generalizations.

Just economic ones. We're in the toilet right now.

Also, we're due to run out of water at this rate. We'll be fucked then. But it won't be because of the casinos and perverts. It will be because of all the white bread suburbanites who've moved here in the past 15 years who insist on having green lawns like they had back in southeast Texas. A fair number of these people are Christians; you'd be surprised at the number of visible evangelical churches out on the far suburban fringe.

Figures it would be "Gawd's people" who would wreck a place.

And my point still stands. If their little brat of a deity hates sin so much, why not have an ENTIRELY UNLIKELY NATURAL DISASTER take out Las Vegas? I mean, like, a hurricane and flood?

Saying Gawd hit NOLA with a hurricane is too fucking easy. And I've still NEVER gotten an answer as to why TORNADO ALLEY is also the reddest of the red state Bible Belt area. Gawd doesn't protect their trailer from tornadoes? But takes out NOLA every couple of generations with a hurricane? REALLY?

Fuck them. Fuck them up their stupid asses.

I don't give a fuck. I'll generalize all I want to Mr. Politically Correct. Gas the ghettos, less crack heads coming to my neighborhood trying to steal. If there was a god and he killed that trash I'd worship him again.

Gas the small towns in the south too, fucking redneck trash.
