Onyx
Good to see people being more critical of religion! I'm in one of these countries (NZ) and I've yet to see it implode.

Overcame Faith
Her statement to the effect that having faith in something will help one survive a crisis is her lingering (or perhaps active) Christianity where having faith is held up as the ultimate virtue. Faith is no virtue because it allows the faithful to be manipulated by the leaders who extoll faith as such a virtue. When those leaders tell their followers to have faith in god, what they are really telling their followers is to have faith in the leaders' interpretation of god. In that way, they manipulate people.
