Thackerie
Today we have: God has a reason for allowing things to happen. We may never understand his widsom, but we simply have to trust his will. ... The ways of random chance are mysterious. God works in coincidental ways.
Lilith666
Check out this bizzare conversation. The first post was from my step-daughter, who is living with her mom in a fundie bubble. Talking abut Sept. 11th anniversary: I hardly remember that day but i remember looking at the tv and asking nana "why do bad people do these bad things" I said: Because they were indoctinated to the point that they actually believed what they were doing was right. It is frightening how easily the human mind is manipulated. I will never forget that day. Her mom's boyfriend says: Every person does what he or she thinks is right to them. Many make a religion out of no religion at all. There are christians, jews, muslims, atheists, agnostics, etc that take they're beliefs to the extreme. There is only one true way. On 9/11 and the weeks and months following, churches were filled with people seeking refuge and peace from God. Why did 9/11 happen? Because there is a real evil in this world, but as much as there is a real evil there is an even greater good. Greater is HE who is in me than he who is in this world. Where sin abounds, grace does much more abound. We should never forget those who gave all. Greater love hath no man than this thab a man lay down his life.......I am thamkful for THE ONE who gave HIS life for me. WTF? ok that response didn't even make sense. That is because some people need to inject Jeebuz into everything.

SquareOne
Saw this today, sorry if it's already been posted! Oh no they didn't. The answer is: he's omniscient and omnipotent, and sits on his ass all day doing fuckedy-squat. Whereas on the other hand it's hard for one human to take on all the crime mafiosos and warlords and corrupt politicians in the world.
owen652
^^ as usual, it's all our fault and we should feel guilty about it.
Lilith666
I think this thread should be pinned. Saw this today, sorry if it's already been posted!I used to think this was really eye-opening. Truth is, a lot of people DON'T allow poverty, etc. They work on food bank farms. They cure diseases. They start homeless shelters. A few people at my school are using their winter and spring breaks to go on service trips. But most can't spend their lives doing that. They have jobs and families, while god does nothing and then the Xians try to guilt us for it. No. Just NO.

scitsofreaky
Sister posted this article "Her Own Child" which has the epic comment: Just proves that God works in mysterious ways. This is a loving, heartwarming story. Does it really matter if it is true or not?? Sums it up nicely. Doesn't really matter if it is true, as long is it makes you feel good.
RipVanWinkle
This is an excellent example of faulty logic peddled by Xtians and apologists. And Xtians use their brains so little they have atrophied and they couldn't identify the false logic if their life depended upon it. Since god either caused these conditions or allowed them to arise in the first place, it is only fair that he get rid of them. Moreover it would be impossible for humans to rid the world of all these conditions even if everybody wanted to do so. Who created disease and hid the cause in submicroscopic territory? It took humans thousands of years before the cause of some diseases could be discovered by mankind? Some have been virtually eradicated by man's effort. How many diseases has god, who caused them in the first place, eradicated? He did a great job during the plagues of the middle ages, allowing millions to die a horrible death. Mankind has done an enormous amount to heal and prevent diseases. And who took care of the millions of victims of natural disasters throughout history, god or mankind? I reminds me of some of the lyrics in the song lamenting the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald sung by Gordon Lightfoot: "Does anyone know where the love of god goes when the winds turn the minutes to hours?" Yeah, and what about when the winds" turn the minutes to centuries? Not a single thing can be legitimately pointed to by Xtians to demonstrate what changes god has made in this world to make it better for humans or animals, except more myths they dream up. So, go ahead, ask god the question. I'd love to hear an explanaton. bill

This is a loving, heartwarming story. Does it really matter if it is true or not?? Sums it up nicely. Doesn't really matter if it is true, as long is it makes you feel good. I enjoy fiction. I enjoy true stories. I don't enjoy fiction that someone is trying to pass off as a true occurrence. Another way to phrase her comment might be, "This story, which is most likely bullshit makes me feel good inside." :-) People on my FB feed also post that disclaimer you mentioned along with their heartwarming BS that Snopes says is FALSE. My friend has interested me in one of the FB games now which is generally more entertaining than the religious/political/philosophical memes I see posted on there everyday. Mimimom
Today I have a quote from a relative: Trust Him, child of God: He is leading you by a right way to the celestial city of habitation; and as from the terrace of eternity you review the path by which you came from the morning-land of childhood, you will confess that He has done all things well.” [F B. Meyer] As I've said before in another thread... I'm sure the parents of a child raped and murdered or one who died from cancer will get to heaven and suddenly say Oh! there really was a good reason! Thank you Lord for allowing my child to suffer and die. This all makes sense now. I guess I should just trust that when He created my son in my womb and gave him two wedge shaped vertebrae causing scoliosis so that he'd have to endure countless surgeries throughout his childhood, He really did have a good reason that I will understand as I look back over my life in heaven. Right. Such BS!
greylight
This aquaintance on my facebook was like "im sad to see so many athesists on my facebook who dont know god personally" and goes on to say something about how he was saved. I was like lol ok dude fuck you, you don't know me. I used to be "saved" just like him but now im an atheist sooooo. I don't really fucking care if they are talking about god in their lives personally (i.e. god is so good to me, praise the lard!) But don't go fucking applying your beliefs on a group of people and assume they are lost. At least the comments under his status were reasonable, for the most part. midniterider
Before filtering out this FB friend's feed.... "Over 60% of men in our society struggle to some extent with pornography; the same percentage within the Christian community. God's Word is very clear, very specific, about lusting after another; it is a sin, period. It is so easily available, so prevalent in our society, and Satan uses it to keep us from experiencing the remarkable relationships we could be experiencing with our spouse, or sisters, or mothers, and our God.Brothers, it is time to man up and stand against the enemy, in Jesus' name, to break the stronghold that the enemy has placed on us. It is time to step forward and intercede in prayer for our brothers who struggle with this sin and ask God to free our society from these chains. It is time to hold one another accountable so we can seek the relationships that He has planned for us. Today is the day!" ----- Tell me more about the 'remarkable relationships' I could have with my sister or mother if I didn't fap to porn? lol The "stronghold", I remember that term from my Xian days. lol

Mimimom
Two more good ones today: So excited! God answered my kids' prayers for snow! and Psalms 116:2 Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath. This verse makes me picture God as a Good Daddy who is bending down with his arms wrapping around me to hear what his daughter is praying to him. Ugh, all these posts can be so annoying, yet amusing at the same time.
