Jds22
Is there any reason to think the story of the dragon waiting to devour the woman's child as soon as it was born in Rev 12 is taken from the story of Cronus devouring his children? I heard Robert Price allude to this on one of his Bible Geek podcasts and I found it interesting. Thanks

mwc
I see no reason to equate the two. Other than the "eating" aspect they're pretty different (and even then they're pretty different). mwc
stryper
It could be an allusion. I would think that John of Patmos being on an island in the eastern med was probably familiar with the mythos. So it could be, but there are other myths about dragons from that area of the ancient world that might work better. Since he was so obsessed with Babylon it could be a reference to Tiamat or something similar. Unless I am getting my myths screwed up again. Which is entirely possible.
