TotalWreck
Revelation 2:4 is one of the most contradictory passages in the piece of shit bible: "But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first". If there is a God, I would like to say to him, "Really, God? That's funny, because the majority of people that have abandoned their love for you did so after YOU abandoned them first. Do you really think people are going to keep loving you when don't help them out after a long period of disappointments and heartache, even though they follow 'the word'? Why is it you say, 'Ask and you shall receive', yet so many people don't receive what they asked you for?" Like I say when people ask me why I left Christianity: I didn't leave God, God left me. Positivist
"But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first". Like I say when people ask me why I left Christianity: I didn't leave God, God left me. It's true, TW! My departure from the faith was virtually organic. God's abandonment of me and my suffering has resulted in my now inability to have faith--I lack the actual capacity for faith. It's like where I once held a bucket, I know look down and see only the handle--the bucket has somehow fallen off somewhere along the way. I did not choose this. If there is a God, I hope he has mercy on us. We are here, many of us, by his abandonment; it was not a choice. Thanks for bringing up that verse. So many contradictions in that book!

Thought2Much
I wouldn't even go as far as saying God abandoned me. He never actually revealed himself to me in the first place. That's why my signature currently says, "I didn't leave God — he never showed up."
par4dcourse
I think the author of Revalation found some magic mushrooms in the local pasture and was writing about his experiments with them.
rebelcheese
Like I say when people ask me why I left Christianity: I didn't leave God, God left me. Exactly. Though in my case I left when I did everything I could 'according to His will' and 'by His word' and still ended up getting screwed over anyway. That's why my signature currently says, "I didn't leave God — he never showed up." Or perhaps He was never there in the first place. I feel like the story of Job somehow applies. Why should I be loving and worshiping a God that makes my life so awful in the first place? Personally, if a meteor blew up my family I would NOT be on my knees praising the one who made it happen. ireckinso
Thats what is flawed about God. First he is loving and giving and merciful, but then he is a mean and ruthless bastard! I mean what God would threaten its creation to burn in hell for eternity because they were ignorant of his existence. Sorry I can not believe that millions of people who had never heard of God are burning in hell.
Moderator Margee Posted January 18, 2012 Moderator Share Posted January 18, 2012 it's so funny...I was thinking as I was reading this post, how angry and frustrated I constantly was, at god for not seeming to hear my sincere prayers and at least answer 1 or 2 of them and help me out a little. They (the experts) advise you, if you have a friend, family member or spouse that constantly rejects and neglects you and doesn't seem to want to be there for you - it may be time to 'get out'! That's what happened to me. He never cared that I left, he didn't try to win me back.....he didn't even kill me and that's what I thought would happen to me if I left.........I am angry today at the whole concept of god. sometimes, it stills bugs me a lot..............

Margee, you and I think a lot alike. Why would god not even try to win us back if he supposedly loves us? Of course, Christians will give the tired old, "He's waiting for you to come back to him" bullshit. Nope, I was there for three miserable years with him while he did nothing, and I couldn't keep sitting around wasting time on something that wasn't working. Antikristos
That's a cold-blooded verse anyway. Even if god were real that is an evil thing to say to imperfect and mortal beings. And if god were real I would say "And this I have against YOU...that you abandoned those who would love you if you weren't an invisible, hidden, coldhearted, lying COWARD!" I hate that book of lies and the time I wasted with it. It is refreshing to know it's all nonsense and that such an evil being is not in charge of anything.
