Help With A Question

Ok so i am actually talking to a kent hovind supporter of all things and this person came up with a claim regarding the bible saying that it has miracles etc but natural events while on occasions are caused by god (doing his magic presumably) they are not attributed to things like dragons bevoming rivers or earthquakes because of loki struggling etc.

Noe i have obviously destroyed every other argument from the hovind arsenal this moron has thrown at me (yes as you can imagine the moron has claimed that i cannot prove light was always the same speed etc but meh) but my scripture is not up to the task so i thought i would ask here for any available material.

Here is the question i got thrown at me so you can get a idea what they mean:

These are examples of what I believe you are suggesting about the Bible.. I'm asking for you to provide any kind of biblical examples like...

"In Norse mythology, earthquakes were explained as the violent struggling of the god Loki."

Pangu, (Chineese myth) died and his body became the 4 directions of the compass and his trunk became the mountains.

Chineese myth, 4 dragons became 4 major rivers...

Native American myth says fingerprints come from wind leaving man's body

Thanks in advance.

To me that sounds like Genesis claiming that rainbows are a message from God that we don't have to worry about God destroying the earth by flood. Gen 9:13-16

Pangu, (Chineese myth) died and his body became the 4 directions of the compass and his trunk became the mountains.

Chineese myth, 4 dragons became 4 major rivers...

Garden of Eden, maybe? Gen 2:8-15

Native American myth says fingerprints come from wind leaving man's body

Perhaps the curse? Gen 3:6-19

Gen 2:7 has God giving man the breath of life.

So this Hovind supporter is pointing to other myths and claiming... What, exactly? That there are no such myths in the Bible, and "Goddidit" explains everything?

Perhaps this is the chap that can get Me that Talking Snake™ I've always wanted.

As for Loki and the earthquakes, I know that one... He was tied up in a cave with snake venom dripping down on him, as punishment for setting up Balder's death-by-mistletoe. Unfortunately, the story also implies that earthquakes didn't happen before Uncle Loki was hauled off to the cave, and ceased immediately when he broke free and went off to fight on the Giants' side in Ragnarok.

Mythology is weird stuff.

So what, if anything trying to twist what is miraculous into being just natural is a insult to god! Making a miracle a part of the nature world only turns the miracle into mythology that is at best a coincidence.

Its more that they are claiming that in the loki example its easily proved wrong for the very reson you mention, however with the bible it always says things like "gods voice was like a hurricane" or some such meaning that they knew the difference between a normal hurricane and could liken gods voice to one.

Look up Noanswersingenesis

Its an Aussie site that refutes all of Kent Hovind and the man himself. Plenty of ammo there.

As for debating a YEC, buy a brick and smash it against your forehead, it is less painful.

Genesis 3 explains why childbirth is painful, why snakes have no legs, and why we have to work so hard to grow food. In fact, Genesis 2 and 3 together tell the same story as Pandora's Box. Both stories are an attempt to explain The Problem of Evil.
