mcdaddy
Any of you seen this show? It's a cable access show done once a week by the Austin (TX) Community Atheists or something like that, they have a handful of people who cycle in and out, usually 2 at a time, and do pretty much nothing but take questions from mostly Christians and tear apart their arguments piece by piece. These people REALLY know their stuff, and their really nice and patient with the callers as well. (I usually facepalm about 5-10 times per episode, I dont know how the hell they get through it!!! ) it's on youtube too, thats where i watch it. great resource. owen652
just watched this one: WOW!! The guy was literally left speechless. He was given all the time in the world to respond but just flopped around like a dying fish. I felt sorry for him, actually. He had nothing. Awesome.
Moderator Margee Posted February 23, 2012 Moderator Share Posted February 23, 2012 I adore these guys owen...i've watched so many of their 'clips' and I loved watching this one! thank you! They make more christians 'stutter' on this show....it's really a sin!!
Guest Xtech
I feel sorry for these people, too. Many have simply not thought it all through before, because they were taught from such an early age to believe nonsense. So, our job is to help them out, and to teach. The caller's defense makes it clear how we all get our reinforcement and affirmation from social cues. I can just hear the caller's heart breaking because he sees a slippery slope which would require him to give up the friends and community that he has through church. AE is a good show. Thanks for the clip.
stryper
it is a very good one. Though many times I have to turn it off because some of the callers make my head hurt. Sometimes you can see Matt Dillahunty getting frustrated with a particularly dense caller. He seems to put up with alot of crap if the person is actually listening and engaging in debate, but when it is clear that isn't happening, man can he tear them apart. I also like The Thinking Atheist podcasts as well. Seth used to be a Christian radio DJ for years before he deconverted. He's got some interesting stories. freeasabird
I am subbed to this Podcast as well. Dillahunty was one of the first atheists I saw on youtube when my deconversion first started. I particularly remember the "god sucks" video where he ripped a called for not having the nutsack to come out and say that bible god is an immoral whack job. Zephie
Whoohoo!!! Hopefully I'll be living in Austin in a few weeks. Now I've got to favorite that on Youtube
Thought2Much
it is a very good one. Though many times I have to turn it off because some of the callers make my head hurt. I also have trouble watching because of this, so I only see "The Atheist Experience" occasionally. I've become a fan of the "Living After Faith" podcast, and I also listen to "The Thinking Atheist" when I can. I've been exploring a whole bunch of podcasts on iTunes lately; some are better in both content and quality than others.
Paine
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. OH JEEEEEEEEEEESUS! I just watched that clip and I wet my drawers. That bald guy is HAWT. ***because the Bible tells me soooooooo***

I have been doing the SAME THING lately....hungry for affirmation that I am FINALLY SANE.....(though some would differ). Freethinker (?) Radio...and this one I found that has the word "point" in the title...escaping me...... GREAT , GREAT stuff. The ex mormon site is great, and that no longer quivering site has great links. I hate television so I don't have one, and iTunes has really plugged the gaps. The web has been a...god?send since my abrupt deconversion. I am SO favoring this youtube thing.....that is if Google won't tell my (ex) congregation!
Ro-bear
Wow. That poor Christian caller had nothing. How could he be so silly as to enter the fray with nothing more than his belief? In church you can do that, but pretty much everywhere else people expect you to be able to reason.

The "Point" podcast you refer to may be "Point of Inquiry" put on by the Center for Inquiry? Both are great podcasts. And I try never to miss Atheist Experience and the other ones put on by the Atheist Community of Austin (Non-Prophets Radio and Godless Bitches). Kurari
Yeah, I've always loved these guys. Some of their callers make me contort in agony as my IQ slowly has points sawed off of it without anesthetic, but there you go. You could hear how utterly frightened this guy is. They hit him in the core.

I loved how every one of the guy's responses was preceded by a big heavy sigh that seemed to say, "Why are you asking me such a hard question?" or "I have no idea how to answer that!" ToonForever
Wow - I think I found a new favorite website - my wife and I just watched the first clip. Soooo goood! I like how they tried to give the guy a chance to respond but insisted on some intellectual honesty. Anyone struck by how smug the caller sounded when he said "Guess which one you're going to if you keep this up?" Sounds like he thought he'd scored a point. Good stuff. Thanks for posting that! I'm going to have to catch more of this crew.
mcdaddy
I only caught onto 'em a few days ago, and now I'm addicted! been watching like 2 hours a day! i still get that backsliding feeling every once in a while, but when i can see someone so clearly, intelligently and conclusively point out all the fallacies of my previous belief, it makes me feel so much more at peace. Matt's the bomb!
ConureDelSol
Been watching this show since I started deconverting! ConureDelSol
These are a few of my favorite clips. Just want to comment for people who want to watch these. The FIRST part is the bottom one. I accidentally assumed it was the top one and watched it in the wrong order. Lol.
Skepticktok
Some points. The caller in the first video called in a few times...it turns out that he was a poe. Most of the host on the show are on Facebook...they're pretty much all really cool people and I've chatted with a few of them. If you like The Atheist Experience you might also like. Ask An Atheist-If The Atheist Experience is the popular cheerleader that motivates the team in the Anti-theist community, Ask an Atheist is the nerdy, geeky, larping book worm that raises the bell curve for everyone in the school. The Thinking Atheist-From a former Christian radio DJ. The Magic Sandwich show: Which includes Aron Ra who rocked when he co-hosted TAE, and has an awesome Youtube channel. Living after Faith: Co-hosted by two of the Ask an Atheist's co-hosts. One of whom is an Ex-UPC preacher.
