Paine
http://cleveland.cbs...baptismal-pool/ So I moved this over here from current events because I truly want for some Christian to tell me WHAT MERCIFUL GOD ALLOWS THIS TO HAPPEN? Or perhaps you prefer this tragic tale..... http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-501363_162-57380877/pastors-daughter-accidentally-shot-at-church-dies/ EIther way, please keep it more interesting than "god has a plan". mymistake
I'm afraid the Christians haven't been too active lately. JayL and Thumby were on earlier and posted a few messages. End3 is on vacation. The rest are quiet. Perhaps the Rapture happened? I would be surprised if either one of them gives you a meaningful answer. The two deaths you cited were tragic. Unfortunately people die every single day. It's usually a loss to somebody. So sad.

Thanks for not hating me, MM. Sorry about yesterday.
mymistake
Thanks for not hating me, MM. Sorry about yesterday. I wasn't offended. No worries. If something is bugging you don't hesitate to talk. You are new here. When I was new there were a couple of Christians who posted in Lion's Den and I enjoyed asking them questions like you just did. However I have to warn you that the Christians here give the same set of unsatisfying answers. You can read through the thread "The Cross And The Resurrection" just to give you an idea of the stuff to expect. Just the same old, tired, pathetic excuses and then they retire to lick their wounds.
London
ZOMG! What idiot brings a gun to church? And loaded? UN-fucking-REAL! ............................................... My real reason for posting in this thread was just to comment that many moons back, in the early days of Ex-C we were bombarded by xians. It was crazy. They would post crazy stuff. We had a few who stayed for a bit. During my time we had Aryan who I just loved to get in his face. I actually felt quite sorry for him. I left for quite a number of years. It is very quiet now compared to the beginning years. But I find the people here are quite amazing. A few old timers are still around, thankfully! Ok, I'm gonna pretend to be xian just to get the shit going... Denyoz
"God works in mysterious ways, those children were needed in heaven, it was their time." LOL, "those children were needed in heaven" that's a good one. Here's my Christian explanation: Since the kid "wandered off from the supervision of childcare staff members at the Praise Fellowship Assembly of God" it's a sign that he was a rebel and a future unrepenting atheist and probably possessed by the devil and when he came into contact with the Holy Water, it killed him. LOL, but no wait, isn't the coming of the antichrist part of gawd's holey plant? That would fuck up everything. But then his ways are not our ways and he's been know to change his mind, so... yeah maybe
London
He was the chosen saint that will DEFEAT satan and his minions. god wanted to start his training early. His death at a church was symbolic of the holy portal to god, he was cleansed by the water. ........................................... You just know some xian is reading this and going, "Fuck YEAH! That's what god's doing."
CatholiKitty
I wonder if I've come up with an original one. Stop me if you've heard it before: "There is no micro-managing plan. Human beings as individuals don't matter to god. Humanity itself may be vital, but people are more-or-less self-replacing pieces in a much larger work. The merciful part comes in when you die and go to heaven as a consolation prize regardless of genetics, creed, and deed. "Heaven in this case wouldn't be the clouds and harps version but an actually perfect place. It would have to be a place that at any point in any persons life, if they had full knowledge of what it is and what it is like, any given person would desire to spend eternity there after they die. It would almost have to be a metaphysical 'place'." I'm fairly sure that satisfies both "merciful god" and "terrible things happen".

Welcome, Paine. That sad "Cross and Resurrection" thread eventually drove me crazy. We'd demonstrate "X is not F" to JayL and instead of refuting us, JayL would come back days later and say "X is F" all over again. I in my innocence (was off this board for some five years and then came back) tried to cut him some slack but came to agree with everyone else who said he is a troll.
