wannabewise
Quoting from an email that I received today: "Anti-marriage forces blocked the American people from seeing what actually happened during the Federal District Court trial of Prop. 8. Now, Dustin Lance Black’s powerful play—based on the actual court transcripts—has been seen by people around the world. Thanks to Google and YouTube, the Los Angeles premiere reading of “8” was streamed live and already has over 600,000 views." I think it's really neat that this creative outlet has been found to portray the flimsy and hollow religious objections to what should be a civil right. older
By the way, Judge Walker's original decision is available on the net. A search engine will take you to several sites that have posted it.
London
I downloaded and watched this whole play. I was expecting all kinds of mud slinging and hate speech from the christards. I was expecting it to be a very sad thing to sit through. I was so wrong! I laughed, smirked, was sad, and felt proud to be an American. This is so worth watching, and you really don't have to be gay. It's really about justice in the face of the christards, and they are so DUMB. If this is how they operate in court, gay marriage will be a federal law in 1 year guaranteed. Such a good play. And I think it will be one of the pinnacle moments in history that will contribute to the lessening of religion. We have had many in the past, this is just one more cog showing how xianity is stupid and hateful. If you decide to watch, I suggest you download the whole thing first. Nothing starts until the 18:00 minute mark, everything before that is the banner you see. There is about a 2 minute rest but once you get past those it's awesome. What a great cast. Even they have a hard time not laughing.
LivingLife
I doubt that gay marriage will become federal law. It is more likely to move in the direction that all marriages will be civil unions and the sanctity shit an add-on for the woos. Christards have no claim to marriage as a god thing as it never was. Marriage was about property ownership and heir-ship and the fucking church hijacked that as another means to fleece the flock. One does not need to marry to fuck or have kids, it is the legal and property/asset rights and responsibility to offspring that go with a union that is the real issue. mymistake
So are "anti-marriage forces" the people who are against gays getting married? Or are "anti-marriage forces" the people who think gays should have the right to get married? I'm thinking the right to get married would be pro-marriage. London
So are "anti-marriage forces" the people who are against gays getting married? Correct, because that is the way the press is spinning it to make gays look like they are going to destroy society. Remember, we must have satan to defeat or our sanctimonious morals will not fly without a demon. My whole life I have watched all the verbal diarrhea the xians spew out, and 9.5 times out of 10 it makes no sense and is just hateful.
London
I doubt that gay marriage will become federal law. Marriage has not ever been a federal issue except that one state is required to recognize a marriage of another state. Marriage as an area of law directly is outside the jurisdiction of the federal government. The only reason this has even been at trial is because it is being argued over civil rights, freedom of association. The fact it is marriage, though a big media circus, is in reality a side issue. I was just saying that if the weakest arguments in this case are any indication of the competence of the strategy of these idiots, we would end up with a federal law that changes the definition of marriage. Because they are so pathetic in court. I was being sarcastic at their arguments. They hold no water. If you watch "8" you will laugh at them. Just hysterical to see. No wonder they didn't want it broadcast. I doubt we will have a federal law on marriage. And yes, it is about civil rights first and foremost. Suzy
So the main argument against gay marriage that marriage is about procreation? I'd like to have these people have a debate with polygamy supporters. Because based on their criteria polygamous marriage is actually better than monogamous since it has the potential to produce more children! It also fits the "traditional marriage" criteria - it's more traditional than monogamous marriage! Just make them look it up int their Bible!
