Goodbye Jesus

My Anti-Wedding Day

So Saturday was supposed to be my wedding day. For several weeks I wondered how I would react. Would I cry? Stay in bed all day? What the hell would I do? For those of you who don't know, I called off my engagement last September because my fiance was an abusive asshole of the highest degree. Seriously. Well good things happened....

I met an amazing guy (so far) that I enjoy spending time with. He's real chill and smart to boot. We can have an intellectual conversation about just about anything. He's a gentleman. I mean he asked me before he kissed me and in my book that's like 10-thousand points. But I digress...so what the hell was I going to do that day?

Well I woke up and saw that dad was about to run errands. I went with dad and we decided that we wre gonna have lunch together at this place called Izzo's. The celebratory burrito was indeed in order. We also stopped by RadioShack to get an FM tuner so I could play some of the new music I've been listening to. My dad likes just about anything so I played him some Marilyn Manson, Theatre des Vampires, Epica, Within Temptation, Nightwish, etc. He loved it!

That evening the new guy I'm dating invited me to dinner with him, his brother, and his brother's girlfriend. Homemade red beans and rice, red wine, and good times! Also, red velvet cake which I think was the universe's way of telling me, "right on!" See, I had wanted to have red velvet cake at the wedding which my fiance was adamantly against. Then we went to this place called Twin Peaks (kind of like Hooters just lumberjack chicks instead). Fun times! We met up with his friends and hung out at their place for a bit. I had to go home around 1-ish. Totally fun evening and I am so glad I am not married right now.

I'd say you should congratulate yourself for not marring an abusive asshole. You were too smart to fall for that. Who knows how badly that would have ruined your life? So be happy. :)

It was a great day. It really was. That was the best celebratory burrito ever. Also the man I am now dating is amazing.

I am so glad you had an awesome day :) Did the ex give you any hassles on the day, or did he manage to stay out of things?

Oh yes, the asshole was out of sight. I was expecting another one of his letters but didn't get anything so it made that day even more awesome.

That's awesome to hear, especially in light of the Asshole's letters about how you'd never ever find a man who'd love you like he did. -- One can kind of hope not, right? ;) Glad you had a great day! I knew it was coming up and I was hoping you'd have a great one.

Thankfully we hadn't done more than brainstorm about a few things. I had bought my dress but I'm selling that on craigslist for dirt cheap.
