jblueep
Larry is a sweet missionary friend of mine that goes to the islands to hold revival meetings, and he doesn't know of my deconversion. I held off as long as possible...Soko pushed me over the edge! Post below... Larry's Status: Latest reports say that Nadi town (CBD) is under 6.2 meters of water, that's 20 feet! Rain continues. So far only 2 reported fatalities. We are scheduled to leave for Nadi on 14 April from here in Melbourne. Missy: Papa God we are asking for Your complete will to be done in this situation. God for all those who are crying out in desperation right now we ask that you would reveal yourself to them. I declare salvations, healings, miracles, visions, dreams, and visitations for these ones. Remember your promises oh God! Rosalind: Lord you promised to be friend to the helpless and life to the lifeless. God be there in the midst of this tragedy. Let the ones see your hope and goodness in the mess. Let them see your Glory Lord. Donna: Mercy Lord. Moe: God is making it impossible to anticipate what He will do in Nadi this spring. Will have to follow Holy Spirit and not do what was done before. Pour out Your Spirit, Lord! Larry: You are so right on so many levels Moe! (as usual) Soko: God pouring out His Spirit in the form of rain - flooding Fiji and cleansing it out, ready for His harvest!! Me: I know you all mean well, but I find these comments appalling. Missy...I guess Papa's will was to devestate the nation of Fiji, or perhaps the Figi people aren't crying out desperately enough for God to reveal himself? What good is "declaring" something from across the world when they are 20 feet under water? And what good are God's promises if we have to remind him? Does he have alzheimer's? Rosalind...Apparently, Figi's helpless and lifeless are on their own this time. There's not a lot of hope and goodness when you are breathing water into your lungs and watching your home and life savings being washed away forever is there? Not too glorious if you ask me. Donna...If he was going to show mercy, I think that would have already happened by now, would it have not? Moe...Wow!?! God is doing all this just to throw us off track so we can't know what He's going to do next? Soko...Really? Your comments are the worst of all! Let me get this straight....So far, God caused 5 people to die a horrible death by drowning, displaced 8,000 people, and financially and emotionally devestated countless families to make Fiji ready for his harvest? All...I know it may sound like I'm angry with God. That is not the case at all. I just wish Christians would think about what they are saying before they say it.

LivingLife
If it helps, the Figi WC rugby squad are very fundie, they pray et al and after the match stripped off their jerseys to reveal T shirts with god slogans. But then they do a haka war cry which American fundies would see as dee-mon-ick Figi haka - watch the facial expressions.

Overcame Faith
I liked your response. Well done! Maybe those who posted those things will really think through what they were saying. Also, I couldn't help but notice that Moe and Larry posted. Where was Curly? Sorry, I couldn't resist since those posts (not yours, theirs) reminded me of The Three Stooges. jblueep
All...I know it may sound like I'm angry with God. That is not the case at all. I just wish Christians would think about what they are saying before they say it. Were you just saying ^^^ to smooth their feathers out of politeness; or do you really not feel anger towards such a sadistic god-concept? I was disappointed with god for years, but once I knew he didn't exist, there was nothing (no one) to be angry about/with. I think I would definitely be angry with him if I still believed he existed. Morons like Soko above can get me riled up though

jblueep
Just noticed that another of Larry's friends posted the following separately to his wall: The HOLY ONE must be RAINING down HIS best in the South Pacific!! What the hell is wrong with these people? Even as a xtian, I would have never thought/said this.
London
Just noticed that another of Larry's friends posted the following separately to his wall: The HOLY ONE must be RAINING down HIS best in the South Pacific!! What the hell is wrong with these people? Even as a xtian, I would have never thought/said this. I don't get it either. I think that either these people are so stupid that they will give glory to god 100% of the time regardless of circumstances, and then everyone else just parrots the same or... They have some kind of hateful/spiteful thing agains the people/place/situation that is being discussed. Maybe this person is happy the South Pacific is enduring this tragedy. It's so hard to understand why people behave like this. So disconnected from reality and compassion. It's conversations like this that convince me again and again that it's just a cult that is out of control. And there are so few people that are trying to get the rest of the world to see that. These folks are voluntarily participating in this madness. And they think it's the supreme answer to everything. It's like watching someone cut themselves over and over and then they cut others. It's just a sad tragedy.

jblueep
Here's the comment larry wrote before he deleted it along with my comment. Since these are deleted, I guess I'm done responding publicly. I may send him a PM. Not sure if it's worth it. Larry wrote: "Jason, I suppose since you've addressed my friends directly and "read them the riot act" I have to respond. I wish I didn't because I certainly love everyone involved in this stream. jblueep
Here it's another deleted comment (came to my email). Oh well Larry wrote: "Jason, I wish you had thought about what you were saying and to whom you might be saying it before you said it. Jason, I have counted you my friend as I do everyone else you have addressed in your comments to my status. I do not believe that this is the forum for the kind of discussion you are wanting. I apologize to all of you that a simple update on conditions in Nadi turned into something entirely different. I know other "ministry" facebook accounts allow this type of discussion without response, but they are made up of thousands of impersonal subscribers who are largely anonymous to one another. However, in my case, you are all friends. I deeply regret the comments that Jason has chosen to air in this public forum. To make anymore comments concerning the content of Jason's post would only add fuel to the fire."
jblueep
I left a final comment for good will... "If I offended anyone with my previous comment, I apologize. They don't want to associate with Satan, or one of his minions. Re: "god's ways are higher than our ways"...everytime i hear that I want to violently shake the person and say "REALLY?? So if God assumed human form, raped a 4 year old girl while putting a cap in her mother right in front of her eyes, and at the same time was fisting a puppy and shitting on old ladies, would that logic still apply? God can do whatever the fuck he likes, even if it's the most abhorrent thing we could possibly ever think of???" This is the kind of deity i used to worship? WHAT. THE. FUCK...
mcdaddy
Its funny how God gives the 10 commandments, then summarily goes on to break almost every one he can. Thou shalt not kill...oops. Thou shalt not covet...oops. (God's covetous in that he's jealous when people worship other gods). Thou shalt not bear false witness...oops. (Giving evidence for a 4 billion year old earth when its actually only 6000 years). He can break his own rules. what kind of example is that? "Do as I say, not as I do". screw that. I can behave better than you do.
owen652
you really have nothing to apologize for. they are the ones who were making outrageous, insensitive and vulgar statements that should be offensive to Fijians, and anyone with any compassion. then Larry has the audacity to 'deeply regret' your comments to his friends. they are all adults, aren't they? why should anyone be shielded from any criticism on a public forum? It's the internet, for fuck's sake. they are acting like babies.

Positivist
The HOLY ONE must be RAINING down HIS best in the South Pacific!! What the hell is wrong with these people? Even as a xtian, I would have never thought/said this. I am outraged just reading this. It's so easy to find spiritual "reasons" for things that have no bearing in reality. The person who wrote this has obviously never experienced a natural disaster. Larry wrote: "Jason, I suppose since you've addressed my friends directly and "read them the riot act" I have to respond. I wish I didn't because I certainly love everyone involved in this stream. God's ways are not our ways." This is truly mindblowing. Of course, God must know best and blast this place and its people to smithereens. Of course, we in North America aren't getting hit like this because we don't allow gay marriage in all provinces/states. Yet. (Please note sarcasm.) I find it very sad that they, instead of choosing to re-consider their beliefs, treat you as an apostate and flush your words down the toilet. I would have found this extremely hurtful to receive this. Talk about people showing their true colors. I left a final comment for good will... "If I offended anyone with my previous comment, I apologize. If anyone would like to private message me to discuss it, I am available and willing." As always, you are the grown-up, J. I appreciate that about you! I had a shit storm on Facebook last week. A fundagelical started it so he asked for it. Maybe I'll post it. Anyhow, time for a beer, my friend! We stand with you in your grief at the lunacy of the world!

"Chirp up"......HA! You know....you are ABSOLUTELY right! That is how you get the "healing" hysteria....and the speaking in tongues.....its all just GROUP THINK on all different levels.... ***man, did I waste my life when I was a Christian****** (and I feel like that in our own country these days, as a matter of fact!---watch what you say on FB!) The sole reason I apologized is that Larry is (still I think) my friend. 2honest and I have supported his ministry in many ways including giving thousands of dollars. I wanted to leave the door open for him to private message me. If he is my friend, he will. If he has discarded me, than he won't. At least I'll know. And in the end, I'm the same person. I lived my life as a believer with love, compassion and generosity. I live my life as an atheist now with the same principles. I still believe that love is the best route to anyone's heart, if there is a route to be had.
