vitani88
I have been a doubter for several years and an atheist for about a year and a half. I am plagued with anxiety and fear, and I believe I have what is currently defined as "religious trama syndrome." I live in Wilmington, North Carolina, and am in need of a counselor for this specific issue. Unfortunately, I don't know where to start. Obviously this is not a heading in the yellow pages. Could someone set me on the right path in regards to where I should look?
rocklobster
Go to a directory of therapists online. I found this one for you http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/state/NC/Wilmington.html Find a therapist who maybe deals more especially with PTSD. Once you've found one call and maybe try and set up an introduction meeting.
Eugene39
It seems that one of the guys on here had been doing on-line counseling with Marlene Winell. Here's a link for you. What I can tell you for sure is that her "Leaving the Fold" book was a tremendous help to me. http://journeyfree.org/ Best wishes!
Guest Valk0010
Personally I think RTS is a joke concept till it makes it into the dsm5 or whatever is after that. But for what its worth, cognitive behavioral therapy helps if your having to retrain your mind.

Voice
Also, try reading Myths to Live By by Joseph Campbell. This book helped me a lot when I was in your place.
Guest wester
"Personally I think RTS is a joke concept till it makes it into the dsm5" Isn't this a logical fallacy, Appeal to Authority? Me, I put little to no trust in hacks who guarantee their paychecks by diagnosing the entire world population as somehow having pathologies that only the hacks have the knowledge and power to fix. Exchanging one set of high priests for another I guess. How in the world did humanity survive for millions of years before Papa Freud and the pharmaceutical companies like Glaxo and Pfizer? A miracle I suppose.
