mcdaddy Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 For all the buybull bashing we do on here, let's stop and give credit to the pearls in there. What's the bible story or parable that relays the most profound truth to you? I'd have to go with the good Samaritan. The religious fucktards pass the dude up, but the religious castoff actually ends up being the only humane one. Take that, fundies!
hereticzero Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I have no favorite story in the bible but I am drawn to the rantings to beware of Priests, scribes, and prophets, none of whom can be trusted to tell the truth.
Paine Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I am still laughing about the term "BUY-BULL". Must be living under a tomb stone....(HAH!).... Never heard that one before , but I am so stealing that.... thanks MAC! Best story.... LOVE the one about Ruth gleaning the fields. I am a part time farmer and I grow extra for the hungry because what the hell else can you do with half an acre of corn that all matures almost on the same damn day? My freezer is only so big, and giving away food to those who will come out in the heat to pick it for themselves is charity without patronizing. My corn patch was picked CLEAN in under three hours...Gives a new meaning to the term "SHARE cropping". Plus I just love the poetry of whither thou goest, I shall go....
Guest wester Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 For my atrophied mind, it's gotta be Revelations in which Jesus starts chopping people up, dudes start riding around on fire breathing horses (sorry I am getting carried away) and the whole shebang goes hog crazy. Gotta love that one. Inspiring prequel to great hollywood 'masterpieces' like 2012, War of the Worlds and Cloverfield. How dare Martin Luther want to take that one out!

That's probably why there is such a huge end of the world industry. Left behind made bank on movies, novels, music, videogames ect. Tragic thing is that the world would probably be a much better place if Martin Luther succeeded in removing it. Few books create christian evil like Revelations.
Chikirin Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 The one where that lady nails a tent peg into that guy's head while he's asleep
TheBluegrassSkeptic Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I like the love poem/psalm in Solomon's Songs. And I DO like the story of the concubine. There are several golden nuggets of demonstrated idiocy in there one can't help but sit back and read and laugh about. It's a very dark comedy imo and am currently writing a modern screenplay idea for it. Could win an Oscar! Okay, maybe not....
oddbird1963 Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 The book of Esther is a good enough drama with a bit of poetic justice at the end. Was the king really as powerless as that though? Could he really not rescind a stupid order he was tricked into giving? Or is that just a Bible error?
Kaiser01 Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Acts chapter 18 when Paul debates with the Athenian philiosphers over "THE UNKNOWN GOD." Another of my favorites is the exodus, a fascinating tale.
FeelHappy Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I know its an obvious one, but I still love the "Love chapter" of 1 Cor 13, Paul was a good writer and this is among his best stuff.
