Lilith666 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 I read a q & a session between a mom and a child psychologist, and I don't think the psychologist is Xian. Here's the link: http://www.momlogic.com/2009/07/playing_doctor_not_ok.php I "played doctor" with two friends when we were all four or five. None of us admitted it, but we were using "playing" as an excuse to touch each other's vulvas/vaginas. I guess we figured checking out boys was gross, but we were fine because we're all girls. Was that abnormal? I felt guilty and dirty when I was younger because I wanted to play with girls, since there weren't any boys available. I'm not bisexual--I don't crush on women--but I've always had sort-of-lesbian inclinations, even when I was Xian. The other girls grew out of the "doctor" thing, but I never really did. Is it because I want to rebel? And has anyone else been like this?
Moderator TrueFreedom Posted August 7, 2012 Moderator Posted August 7, 2012 Playing doctor is perfectly normal, straight or gay. I played with boys and girls when I was a little kid, and I am 100% hetero. If you are still tempted to play, I suppose that you might be bi.
Moderator TrueFreedom Posted August 8, 2012 Moderator Posted August 8, 2012 This should probably be in the Sex and Christianity forum...

Guest Babylonian Dream Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 It may have just been you who used it as the excuse, or it may also have been them. But either way, its perfectly human and natural, and to be honest, you may also just be rationalizing it. You probably were just playing doctor, and then realized "oooh, this feels good", and wanted to do it again. Who knows? Nothing to be ashamed of.
Guest Babylonian Dream Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 You probably are bi, or even lesbian, but that's perfectly fine and normal. Its amazing how they can make you feel ashamed of this, or anything that ends up involviing sexuality. You'll eventually come to no longer feel ashamed.

The shrink said no one should touch a child's genitals except his/her parents or a real doctor. It's not that I'm against playing with women now. Just that it seems kids are too young for that. I felt awful later and told Mom about it, who of course said not to do it again. Man, I wish I hadn't said anything. It's like I let X smother me with guilt for most of my life and steal some of my kidhood. Thanks, BD and TF. I was starting to feel like I was a mini-pedophile/nymphomaniac.
jblueep Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 I saw this article today: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/sexual-orientation-revealed-eye-dilation-study/story?id=16941556#.UCGxMKAsEfk Predictably, heterosexual men showed more pupil dilation after being shown sexual videos of women, and little to men. Heterosexual women, however, responded to both sexes, confirming previous research that women have more fluidity in their sexuality. Confirms my suspicion that most females are at least somewhat bi-sexual.
Lilith666 Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 You probably are bi, or even lesbian Wow.... but I don't get crushes on girls.

Man, I wish I hadn't said anything. It's like I let X smother me with guilt for most of my life and steal some of my kidhood. Between the ages of 7-8 I did similar "experimentation" with people near my own age. You are probably enforcing sexual thoughts onto what you did, because of shame. I remember that me and a friend would play "house", and though we got everything all wrong, we did play "mommy and daddy", And you're right, with the exception of parents giving their kids a bath and the doctor doing a checkup, there shouldnt be no genital touching between anyone and a child. Though this is usually directed at adults to keep adults away from children and to prevent child abuse, you're right, children shouldn't be touching children like that either. Though the reason children shouldn't be touching children like that either, is to prevent harm to the children, and isn't because they are horrible for doing it. Children are curious about their bodies. Its normal. Though until they're old enough to understand it, they shouldn't be touching eachother nor be being touched in those areas, especially when they did not or can't consent. Shame not necessary. Yeah, you were too young for that. O well.... it happens. Shit happens. You just gotta know to make sure your kids don't do it I guess.
Ro-bear Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 It's normal, don't worry about it. I found out how cool my junk was by shimmying up a clothesline post when I was little. It felt so funny I let go of the post and landed on my ass. Thirty-something years later, my younger daughter made the same discovery at the playground. She would go up a ways, shiver and say "Whoa!" or "Oh my!" and then giggle and slide down. I had to control my laughter and ultimately decided I should distract her before her behavior was noticed. So we went to the swings, which offered thrills of a different nature. 2
sarahlee Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 There's a Kinsey scale of sexuality: http://www.iub.edu/~kinsey/research/ak-hhscale.html Were sexuality is mesured on a scale of 0-6. This leaves room for people who don't indenity with exact measurements of sexuality.

Guest Babylonian Dream Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 RoBear explained it better and simpler.
Xerces Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Sounds normal to me, kids will be kids. My sister isn't a lesbian but she likes looking at boobs from time to time. Sometimes I see guys that are attractive, but I mostly am for girls. Hell I'll be honest and say I've even done the deed while watching some muscley gay porn before. Not ashamed at all.

Then women were shown photos of naked men and their response was to laugh! Well.. it is pretty funny-lookin down there.
BendyLine Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 I think this kind of thing is pretty common, and I'd say it's more about curiosity than about sex. I had a couple of "show and tell" experiences when I was about that age (though with members of the opposite sex). I don't think it necessarily means anything as far as your sexual orientation, but even if it did, so what?
