The Changing View That Their Is Now "legal" Rape And "illegal" Rape

Recommended Posts

http://www.ex-christian.net/blog/184/entry-691-there-is-no-such-thing-as-legal-and-illegal-rape/

Just needed to vent on this topic.

I don't care if you are democrat or Republican, Liberal or Conservative Man or Woman, Gay or Straight.

Rape happen in all genders and walks of life I will admit that Men who are rape have a bigger problem and not coming forward and I just think that is bad as well as what is happening to female rape victims today in this country.

We are taking frightening steps backwards in our society.

Will my nieces and nephews have to survive in a country that has become a verison of "The Handmaid's Tale"?

I'm not sure what the "legal" rape was from that site. It didn't seem clear to me.

Statutory rape is about economics. Once a person has completed puberty they are physically an adult. We protect women underage because of the cost of bringing up a child and how early pregnancy kills the chances of getting out of poverty. But my it's nature the cut off has to be arbitrary. There is just no other way to enforce it.

My opinion is that legal rape is what the NTS does at airports. Maybe there is more I am not aware of.

US Banks are free rape taxpayers as they see fit.

And I think Congress legally rapes us also - but rather than smoke a cigarette afterwards, they will go on vacation for 3 months. At our expense.

Lots of legal rape out there...

I think this post is coming from something like this article http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/08/19/missouri-republican-claims-legitimate-rape-rarely-results-in-pregnancy/

What a fucktard.

No, I'm not talking about a metaphor. I mean if you want to get on a plane the TSA agent has the right to force you to strip and they get to stick their fingers into your body. To me that is a form of rape and I won't travel by plane until it ends.

Okay, thanks. Yeah, the word 'legitimate' and the word 'rape' do not belong next to each other. Sounds like everything he learned about the world came from the Bible.

He probably did. It's just as bad as claiming that people who orgasm during rape liked it...the human body is just doing what it was functioned to do...trust me people who are raped did not like it and no it wasn't legal rape. This guy is a serious fucktard.

Ewww....how inappropriate. I agree that is rape and there should only be justifiable evidence like a body scan if you didn't make it through the metal detectors. America's gotten so ridiculous.

I guess since the topic came up I also want to comment on the idea that rape is never about sex. Maybe some rapists do it for power or control. But I don't buy that as a generalization. Seems to me that the guys using roofies (or whatever it's called) are just trying to get laid when they don't have a chance any other way.

It sounds like a form of control. I mean if they are not getting laid any other way why not use a roofie (rufie?) to put a person out and do what they will? It's still a form of control and doing whatever they want with another person.

Yes, sure, as a means to get sex. Sex is the end and rape is the means. In my opinion sex is a big part of the motivation for many rapes.

From the studies I've read the sexual arousal part comes from the control and power one has over another person.

When you refer to roofies and other "Date Rape" Products part of it is sexual conquest but by using the drugs these men feel as if they are not "raping" the person because they didn't hold them down. BUT these men are still "Controling" the situation and the person they are drugging.

I took a plane last year and I wasn't patted down by TSA.

The last time I flew was several years ago, to get some stuff of mine that a sweet ex-BF had been storing for me -- including one of my cats. When I returned, the TSA in the Southern town I was in looked damn chipper about seeing me get escorted to the private room to be made to strip and whatnot, until it turned out that it wasn't my ticket that had the "do your worst" signal on it. It was the cat's.

Once we were all inside the little room, the TSA guy (I have never seen a beer gut that big on a human being, no fucking kidding, the guy's belly button was in a different zip code and he wore a hat and 'stache like he was Buford T. Justice) stared at the cat's boarding pass and then at the soft-sided carrier. I said, "It's up to you how you proceed, but I'll warn you now: she weighs 18 pounds, she's a feral cat, and she's really mean."

This was clearly not the conversation he'd expected to have at this point.

He ended up unzipping the carrier and leaning wayyyyyy over to peek inside and then hastily rezipping the bag and going "okay! On your way, miss!" I realize now that I could have put a fucking Glock into that carrier and he wouldn't have had the faintest idea. I decided then never to fly again till TSA gets reined in.

As to legal and illegal rape, nothing we haven't suspected Republicans of thinking, is it? Their own views of women are so barbaric and antiquated that it's not surprising they might feel that women are either stupid sluts or lying cunts when they make claims about rape.

Statutory rape is about consent, they are to protect boys and girls under age of consent. A person under the age of consent, 18 in most parts of the USA, cannot give consent to have sex with an adult. Statutes were written to protect children under 18 from predators and horny adults. 16 is the youngest, in my state, a person may have sex with a 19 year old. But once the 19 year old hits 20 yrs of age, his sexual partners better be 17 or older if he or she wants to avoid statutory rape charges. 17 is the age of consent to get married, generally after having sex at 16. 18 is the age of consent for sex and contracts without parental approval, except in my county it is 19. Under age kids always have sex with each other and get pregnant so the cost of raising children who have children is not deterred by Statutory rape laws.

GOP is waging a war on women's rights including the right to have someone arrested for raping her. Now they want to label every rape as either 'deserving' or 'undeserving' and it is just another way to blame the victim for her or his own rape. It is the 'your word against mine' mentality of an idiot who is also now a law-maker and probably a religious psycho too.

Um, I'm pretty sure the rules say that if they're doing that sort of screening, it has to be with a person of the same gender to avoid just that sort of issue. I know that all pat downs are required to be performed by a member of the same gender. I didn't think they'd let a male officer even watch a female agent strip and grope a female passenger.

http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/pat_downs.shtm

You have the right to request the pat-down be conducted in a private room and you have the right to have the pat-down witnessed by a person of your choice. All pat-downs are only conducted by same-gender officers.

Sounds like they weren't following their own procedures, or else they had a staff shortage. If the second, they are required to inform you ahead of time: http://open.salon.com/blog/denisdrew/2010/12/31/tsa_opposite-gender_pat_down_short_females_cant_back_out

The feral cat was a pretty hilarious solution to that problem, but if that happens in the future, you could probably make a fuss and at least demand a female officer.

Unacceptable. Totally unacceptable in every way.

The issue is not gender. The issue is being probed against your wishes.

Doesn't solve the problem.

I'm glad to hear that some people can travel without having a problem. But what do you do if the TSA gives you trouble? Seems to me that all the power is one sidded.

There was a female agent there, VF, but if I'm being forced to strip, I don't really care if there's a fucking crowd in there to watch me. Small and cold comfort indeed when one's rights are being violated. I'll never forget the look on that asshole's face when he saw me get singled out of the line.

And the cat actually was exactly what I claimed: 18 pounds of mean. She's a lot more mellow and sweet now to me and my husband, but this was back when she wanted NOTHING to do with anybody; also, she never reacted well to being picked up or fucked with ;) I'd have loved to have seen her go Kitty Cuisinart on that guy. When I got her marked ticket and asked what it was, the ticket agent told me that they'd also had a guy's cello get the "do your worst" mark earlier that week. There was no rhyme or reason to it.

They only pick a few out of the crowd. However, when I was in Dulles earlier this year, they had some behemoth of a TSA agent (seriously, 6'6''-7'') who ushered an average middle class lady my mom's age into the interrogation room. He treated her like shit in front of everyone and it was pretty clearly meant to intimidate everyone in the security line. Dunno if this is a national procedure, but at least at Dulles, they are intentionally using intimidation tactics.

Sorry, I didn't mean it to sound that way. What I meant to communicate was that while you're in line at the airport, there's little you can do to fight the unethical policy that's already on the books; that's for other times, for writing to your representative, raising public awareness, and other sorts of lobbying. But since these stupid rules give assholes a rush of power, you can at least use their own rules to force them to keep to the few limits they do have and not let them get away with illegal abuses of power. (I guess I also have a naive hope that if there's enough complaints about abuses of power, that someone higher up will see that the whole system is setup in a bad way that encourages such behavior, even if they only care because they're tried to dealing with complaint paperwork.) I did not intend to imply that that would make everything ok, and I certainly did not intend to downplay your completely justified feelings about the situation. I'm sorry that I did not communicate that.

Oh my gosh VF I didn't think that, but thank you for taking the time to clarify anyway in case I had. :) That was very kind.

No matter how many complaints, though, the TSA has no reason to change until and unless it is forced to do so. It's like being with an abusive or shitty boyfriend--as long as you're fucking him, he can put up with complaints all day long.

Don't worry about it. Nobody is mad at you. No worries. I resist by not traveling by plane. Fortunatly the circumstances of my life allow me that option. I don't know what I would do if I had to make a living traveling, as some people must.
