If you have time, you can check out this video. It's pretty funny. These guys thought that all the cartoons and toys from the 80's were part of satan's conspiracy to corrupt the youths to the occult. Who would have thought Scooby-Doo was in on it!!

Best. Decade. Ever.

I remember this guy. Even people within Evangelical Christianity thought this guy was nutty. Greenwald was the backmasking dude that went around looking for Satanic messages in rock records. One of my favorite Petra songs had an intro where they intentionally backmasked the line, "What are you looking for the devil for, when you ought to be looking for the Lord?" as way to mock this dipshit.

Idiots like him influencing my mom made me miss out on some great cartoons. I had to stop watching He-Man because, "only Jesus is the master of the universe." Yeah, mom. I know. It's a goddam cartoon that's set in an alternate reality. I'm seven not retarded.

Oh boy do I remember when that crap hit the fan.

When I was very young, my parents were nominal Christians. I can even remember comics about "Hot Stuff The Little Devil" and it was considered no big deal.

By the time my youngest sister was 4, my parents had completely flipped out. The Smurfs were considered evil (something about them having horns under their hats -- a revival of some of the old lies said against Jews?). Also, E.T. was considered evil (an alien with healing powers who rose from the dead! how dare anyone think of such an abomination).

My youngest sister missed out on trick or treating and a lot of the innocence of childhood. My parents were always looking for hidden demonic influence in pop culture.

But she did have a doll that said a few lines of religious drivel, provided by Jim and Tammy Bakker's outfit. Imagine hearing (over and over again) "Jesus takes and frown, and turns it upside down. Oops -- there goes a smile" in Tammy Bakker's voice.

It was absolutely dreadful! It would be enough to drive any sane person toward atheism.
