I think my title says it all.

Some athletes talk about God, believe it or not, most do not bother me.

Kurt Warner one of the biggest Christians in sports history, did talk about his religion but did so tastefully.

However Tim Trollbow, seems to do it to intentionally, to upset people, even those who believe the same things at times don't care for it.

His comment to people telling him to keep it on the down low was.

"Men love their wives, they have a personal relationship with them. They say it all the time. I know it's hard to understand, but that's like my relationship with Jesus. I need to thank him for my successes and his impact on my life."

In a nutshell, that's what the cultist, man child, virgin said.

 

If that isn't a trolling comment, I don't know what one is.

 

I get everyone doesn't like him here, I don't either and yes he is probably just a ignorant brainwashed virgin, who is mentally ill trying to spread the word, more annoying than most others of his faith.

However, I think there is more to it than that.

I think lost in all the madness Tim Tebow, might very well, be one of the best public trolls of all time.

The question is does he do it to intentionally upset those who don't believe the same thing as him or not?

If you were a good person, of any thought process and you knew what you said upset people? Why keep doing it unless it gave you satisfaction in upsetting others.

Think about the commercial he did, that was against abortion? How his mother almost had one and look how he turned out?

Regardless, the biggest problems with Christianity lie in it's most popular figures.

For the bad rep atheists have for being rude to Christians, seems to me Christians troll ten times more and upset far more people.

Not to mention have a major on pop culture society.

Can you imagine a sports icon saying "I'd like to not thank god, no thank the bible because it's all untrue. I'd like to thank myself for achieving all I have. I support gay rights" There would be a uproar.

That is what Tim Tebow is doing from his spiritual perspective.

I think like any Troll people need to accept what he is, a troll, don't feed him or others like him and accept him for what he is.

At the risk of getting embroiled in a flame war, I'll state that I like Tim Tebow, both as a person and as an athlete. Though he’s sincerely wrong in his beliefs, I do think he’s sincere. I believe he really does want to have a positive impact on other people’s lives and he’s going about it in the only way he knows how. I don’t think there’s any more to it than that. Are you familiar with Hanlon’s razor?

I find much of the criticism leveled against him to be largely the product of how other people have responded to him. I’m a bit baffled at how polarizing he is and I really don’t understand all the hype now that he’s essentially just a backup quarterback whose glory days appear to be behind him. I even understand his motivations behind the FotF spot. His mother almost died because of her decision to carry him to term and he’s very aware of that. That’s some heavy stuff.

When he starts telling other people how they have to behave, or worse, gets directly involved in trying to legislate that behavior, I’ll find him more irritating. Thus far he’s mostly only put himself out as an example and talked about what he thinks his imaginary husband has done for him.

I don't think it's really fair to say he joined an anti-gay religion or that he became Christian. He was born into and raised in it. His parents are Baptist missionaries. His older siblings are missionaries. His favorite football player as a kid was a quarterback turned missionary. And I don't find find it implausible that he's actually a heterosexual virgin. Maybe I'm just naive. Is it possible that he's gay? Sure. But to my knowledge he's never even publicly discussed his views on homosexuality. Although I'm fairly certain what they are based on his denominational affiliation, he's not exactly Ted Haggard going around telling people to pray the gay away. Instead he's building orphanages in the Philippines. Yeah, those kids will all get a hefty dose of Jeebus, but they'll also enjoy a standard of living that they otherwise wouldn't have had thanks largely to the efforts of a much-maligned backup quarterback with a wonky throwing motion.
