DOswalt Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 I wrote the article on the Main site "Just Not Good Enough" about two months ago. At this time I was enrolled in bible college and waiting to leave until the end of the year. BUT I told my parents a little too much one day, so they decided to tell the pastor. Well, he told the college administrator that something was up on Jan 11, the worst day of my life as far as I'm concerned. The college administrator called me into his office and we talked about my doubts. He just couldn't seem to help but keep me from explaining myself. Once I told him that I don't believe in the Bible or in God, he just changed to guarded name calling mode. There was no way I could explain anything. Why don't let you explain your point of view? Well, we finished talking and I went to work. He texted me at work asking if we could meet at IHOP afterwards; so I agreed.(I should not have) This meeting was just a continuation of the previous but with him shoving me into a corner of answering only yes or no; no ifs, buts, or maybes. Well, this basically led to him to calling me antichrist, and that I will be in the future some horrible, miserable person. Being that I had to leave college, I came back to my parents house for a time. This time living in a Christian environment without Christ has led me question the difference between believing and faith. What difference is there between believing something and having faith in something? Having faith in Christ has no real bearings on life anyway. Why do people see it as so important?
mymistake Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Well, we finished talking and I went to work. Well, this basically led to him to calling me antichrist, and that I will be in the future some horrible, miserable person. This pastor doesn't know what he is talking about. What he thinks is knowledge is actually ignorance. Being that I had to leave college, I came back to my parents house for a time. This time living in a Christian environment without Christ has led me question the difference between believing and faith. What difference is there between believing something and having faith in something? Having faith in Christ has no real bearings on life anyway. Faith is accepting without questioning. We all believe some things. It takes faith to believe something crazy that flies in the face of evidence. I believe the sun will rise tomorrow. That belief is based on well established patterns but I could be wrong. Maybe a roge black hole will move through our solar system ten seconds from now and our Sun will have no tomorrow. So my belief could be wrong and I don't mind telling you it could be wrong. See how it isn't faith? Now if I told you that there are no Frost Giants bothering you right now because Oden keeps his promises that would be a statement of faith. Why do people see it as so important? Christians are desperate to reinforce their beliefs. You will be told a lot that you were "never a real Christian". Expect it because that is their number one defense mechanism. If you had been a real Christian and walked away then that would mean their imaginary friend doesn't have any power. Most Christians are not willing to consider such a possibility. By the way I actually am antichrist and it's not so bad. I experienced some heavy duty fear for the first five months but after that my life has been so much better than in all the years I was a Christian. I've been able to conquer some of the problems that Christ could never heal. Making big decisions is so much easier. You are free to have a moral compass for no alteriative motve at all. Imagine that, doing good things only so good things happen. It's way more pure to be good as an antichirst then back when you are trying to appease the Spiritual dictator or obey out of love for the FreeGift yada yada yada. Let us know what is going on. Many of us have had to face the same type of crap. 1
MultifariousBirdLady Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 DOswalt,You were treated very unfairly. I'm sorry this administrator stooped to using these abusive tactics with you. Especially this: Well, this basically led to him to calling me antichrist, and that I will be in the future some horrible, miserable person. Which has no basis in reality whatsoever. He is telling you that for two reasons... 1. he wants to scare you back into Christianity, and 2. he is so trapped himself that he has believed these fearmongering ideas that get passed around within the faith.I know that must have been a horrible experience to go through. Someone did something a little similar to me at one point. Don't let his words bother you, though. See for yourself how beautiful the world without religious tyranny and guilt-tripping can be.
Llwellyn Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 "Antichrist" is just a loaded way of saying "not a Christian." He didn't have to tell you that -- you had already told him. Using the charged word "antichrist" is just a technique he used to make you anxious. There is nothing about being a heathen that should make you anxious. And if antichrist is the word he would like to describe you, then so be it.

And if antichrist is the word he would like to describe you, then so be it. For me anti-Christ has a special meaning. Anybody can be an ex-Christian or a non-Christian. I became antichrist when I realized that Christianity is evil. Oh I don't have to try to take over the world or anything like that. I don't even bother Christians in the real world. But their religion is evil and supports evil. Even the moderate Christians are giving legitimacy to the Christians murdering people in Africa so there is real blood flowing.
Geezer Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Religion is based on emotion not logic, reason, or evidence. Because religion is based on emotion it is difficult, and some would sayimpossible, for a believer and a non-believer to engage in an objective adult discussion about virtually anything having to do with religion. It appears that religion is a subject that only like minded people can discuss and even then they often end up in an arguement.
alpha centauri Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Wow. Sorry you went through that. There's a trail of broken lives caused by religion, whether Christianity, Mormonism, Islam, the Watchtower Society (Jehovah's Witnesses), Scientology, etc. It can be very difficult -- if not impossible -- to reason with someone who is convinced that their religion is absolutely true, because they inevitably label you as evil, degenerate, infidel, antichrist, etc. I definitely sympathize with you, and have suffered much persecution from family because of their staunch views on Christianity. Sadly, for them, there's no middle ground. They believe "If you're not for us, you're against us," so in their minds, we're under the thrall of satan. In their view, it doesn't matter what you say or do, as long as you reject their views on god, you are categorized as the enemy. It's incredibly sad and very discriminatory and demeaning, and almost all of us have felt the sting in some form or fashion. If nothing else, you have a like-minded, sympathetic community to converse with and commiserate with via this website.

This time living in a Christian environment without Christ has led me question the difference between believing and faith. What difference is there between believing something and having faith in something? Having faith in Christ has no real bearings on life anyway. Why do people see it as so important? An administrator for a Christian college,( and other employees ) derives his income from the students that attend the college. If a student were allowed to think that Christianity is a fraud he would start talking with his fellow students about his non-beliefs and probably not want to go to that Christian college anymore. His friends might follow suit. Free thought is not good for Christian colleges. It is how they lose money. The administrator was putting a stop to a potential economic nightmare (for himself). He needed you to either continue the delusion or gtfo. He didn't want his student body infected with "thinking." Having faith in Christ is very important if you are in the business of selling Christianity to others. :-) Like the accident lawyer on tv says, "It's all about the money. You know it and I know it." The administrator may be a believer or maybe not. But this isn't about faith. Now write him a nasty letter telling him to eff off and sign it, "Sincerely , The Antichrist." :-) Or sue the college for emotional distress. Maybe sue the pastor also. It wasn't any of his business to mess with you. :-) At least mention lawsuit to them. It's good for causing some gastrointestinal upset. haha
Pantophobia Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 The good news is, even though it's not idea, you can start over at a _real_ college. This will be better for you than you know. Your admins are bullying jerks, and you are hardly the antichrist. (Besides, I thought that was Obama? )
SquareOne Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 If it helps, this guy who was being an ass to you wasn't a Christian anyway by the sound of his attitude, so he can shove his own antichrist head up his ass. Jesus wouldn't stand for that shit. If he existed. Which he didn't.
hereticzero Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Called a friend out for calling the Pres the anit-christ. I told him the church's reliance upon spreading lies to further their doctrines was the anti-christ.
DOswalt Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 Pantaphobia, I am going to a state university this fall. I am probably taking Philosophy and then I'll see after that. midniterider, I think I will write that letter.
RipVanWinkle Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 DOswalt: Good luck to you in a new college. The behavior of the minister and the administrator at the bible college shows how terribly insecure they are. I truly does. Going to another college is good. I wish you the best luck. By the way, do your parents know what happen? If so, what was their reaction? If they don't know, if I were you I would consider telling them exactly what happened and politely asking them please not to go around you again. But you know the relationship you have with your parents; I don't. So you can best determine what to say to them. I am only making a suggestion which may or may not be right for you. You've shown a lot of courage and your on the right track. bill
