◊ crazyguy123 ◊ Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I spent some time working on this. Originally, I wanted the song to be about my deconversion, but it turned out to be something very different. This song could potentially be the theme song for ex-C! Constructive criticism is welcome. Our old religion Is a pathogen It’s a cult developed by sociopaths It leaves the minds of the gullible Enveloped in fear And superstition We no longer cling to delusion And fantasy Our faith has died It can’t be revived For we have chosen To listen to the voice of reason Apologists Don’t you dare Attempt to shackle us To your emotionally manipulative beliefs Using Pascal’s wager Because it will get you nowhere Of course you’re free to try I’m not gonna lie But let me warn you It might just make us laugh We no longer cling to delusion And fantasy Our faith has died It can’t be revived For we have chosen To listen to the voice of reason Believers trapped within We feel sympathy for you We wish you could be free And see your belief For what it is It’s a system of corruption Control And manipulation The apologists in the cult Play with your emotions And feed you lies To keep you in line So that you’ll be good sheep Who won’t ask questions But… You no longer need to cling to delusion And fantasy Don’t let the fundies Scare you into submission With their fear tactics If you wish to become free To think for yourself And cast your faith aside Join us now We welcome you And we’re willing to help you We no longer cling to delusion And fantasy Our faith has died It can’t be revived Because we have chosen To listen to the voice of reason And the voice of reason tells us The faith is poison 3
Denyoz Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Great, just give me the melody and I'll be singin'! 1
◊ crazyguy123 ◊ Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 Great, just give me the melody and I'll be singin'! Unfortunately, I haven't yet created a melody for it. I just did the lyrics and I don't know how to do much else when it comes to song writing besides that.
kolaida Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Nice! I really liked that. Especially the "faith is poison" part. Sent a chill down my spine because of how true it is. And so true about the apologist, they really manipulate things that's for sure. 1
◊ crazyguy123 ◊ Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 To the tune of "I'll Be There For You" Would it be a good tune for it? I don't know of the song so I might listen to it and see if it sounds good to me. I think I know the song you are talking about. It's the song on the show Friends, am I right? I'm not exactly sure how the tune for that song could work with my lyrics, but if you've got it figured out, then you've got a tune and some lyrics and can sing it.
Guest r3alchild Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I liked it just as a personal poem. Having heart and truth and what we all feel. But I think it needs to ryme rolling from one line too another. Try this put some emotinal music on and write it to the music. It should give you that rythem. But if you did that allready leave it because you cant make it better if its got all your guts in it. 1

I think it does that, but if not, I honestly don't know how to improve it then. Also, I didn't listen to any emotional music while writing it. The idea just didn't occur to me. But it might have helped.
SRS Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Nice crazyguy. Really captures a lot of the ideas and emotions of escaping christianity.
