Freedom Song

It's seems for some reason they have been playing a lot of old 'screamin' for freedom' songs on the radio this afternoon. Does anyone remember that song by The Parachute Club called 'Rise up"?

 

All these years, I've been listening to these songs and just sang and danced to them. Now the words of some of these old songs are coming alive to me. I can't believe how many of them are about 'screamin' for freedom'. (I always knew the meaning in the love songs  ) 

 

I wonder how far back 'freedom' songs go? I know the  60's were full of them starting with the Vietnam War, but I wonder if these songs have been around for centuries, ever since we learned how to write music and sing. I do remember dad and mom singing their old war songs.

 

Maybe it's when people 'of old' set up the governments? Is this when we started singing and screamin' that we wanted our freedom?

I think we all need to keep freedom alive in our minds and hearts. We get a lot less of it as time goes by if it isn't closely defended. What you don't protect will be taken from you.

Yeah, I've been missing some Christian music and that feeling I'd get when listening to it. But it's just not the same anymore. I tried listening to some the other day and it just felt really sad.
