leopardus
…Or divorce, or gossip, or slavery, or head coverings, or Jesus’ teachings on nonviolence, or the “abomination” of eating shellfish and the hell-worthy sin of calling other people idiots. And so it goes from there. A brilliant blog post by a Christian blogger. Some of the comments are pretty good too. http://rachelheldevans.com/blog/literalist-gluttony
RogueScholar
Yep, the bible is the final word in all things so long as we can interpret, modify and disregard the parts that are not appealing...

BrotherJosh
Growing up my family lived across the street of a Seventh Day Adventist family. The mother would come over and try to witness to my parents. They'd get into this huge debate over biblical law, the new covenant, salvation etc...looking back it was just a giant circle jerk. They may as well have been debating their favorite Harry Potter character.
Super Moderator florduh Posted July 12, 2013 Super Moderator Share Posted July 12, 2013 Even as a Christian I was perplexed at how Scriptural guidance on gluttony, divorce, etc. were so easily ignored by those claiming Biblical authority over everyone else.
